I purchased a Duo-R soon after joining this site. The unit was sold nonfunctioning. I repaired pretty much everything except the caps, which were still good and the unit worked. Now, I had to repair the sides of the case as they were damaged. They are better now, but I you can still see cracks if you look closely.
Now, I'd like to attempt to bondo the cracks and paint it black and re-decal the unit with the PC Engine Duo logo.
Any advice, or would this be unlawful to paint such a thing of beauty.

I'm okay with painting, but you gotta know what you're doing and be willing to do it right. A rushed, poorly prepped paint job is worse than leaving it battle scarred, so take your time filling, sanding, cleaning, and painting.

I always wondered if plastic dyes would work on Bondo. Most of the custom items I've made were battered and tattered examples that had been properly repaired, filled, and painted. There's no need to butcher up a nice example of something for customization's sake. I say if you've got a console that's beat up, do something to make it pretty and unique. However, as Necro said, take the time to do it right.
