Title: Those wanting to write game info for the TurboGrafx book.

As you may recall I've been working on a TurboGrafx collectors guide. I've gotten to the point where I will need to start inserting the write-ups into some of the pages. I figure if I start getting the write-ups assigned it will help move things along a little bit sooner.

Below you will find the list of games that will be included in the book (should be all of them). If I'm missing any please let me know... there are some that a write-up will not be needed (see unlicensed games) If you are interested in doing a write-up let me know through PM and I will list your name on this page. I can also send you an example of what I'm looking for. They only need to be about 4 paragraphs long. And your community (user name) will be included on each one of the write-ups that are used. (Some editing to your work may be needed to get it to fit within the given space).

Implode, Insanity, and Meteor Blaster DX are official licensed games? I think you need to do a little more research...

Sounds like the research consisted of copy & pasting pcecp.com.

Looking forward to this Ayce! I'm a pretty awful writer, so I don't think I'll be of much use for you. Either way, I appreciate you putting in the effort to make this happen. New TG stuff is awesome, be it games, web sites, books, videos, whatever! :)

I think it's a pretty exciting idea too, but I have to admit I'm pretty leery about our author.  I think Ayce you spent more time making the mock-up cover of the book than you did on researching anything inside the cover.  Prove me wrong and I'll buy it!

Do you have a publisher, or at least a professional editor? What about a historian who can vet write ups? Contacts with NEC? Contacts with programmers? Any insiders?

You should also be just a tad more specific with what you're looking for.

No i just forgot to pull those out since they were all listed alphabetically on my spreadsheet/checklist of complete games.

Sounds like the research consisted of copy & pasting pcecp.com.

Yes that list of games probably did come from there originally.

Do you have a publisher, or at least a professional editor? What about a historian who can vet write ups? Contacts with NEC? Contacts with programmers? Any insiders?

This is not going to be an official book... so no I do not have a professional editor/historian. I am going to be using people from the forums who have already volunteered to help out. As for publisher, it's going to be done through Lulu.com.

This is a community run project just like my Card Fighter Project (http://www.cardfighterproject.com (http://www.cardfighterproject.com/)). It's a fan based project for fans. Will there be errors... yeah probably. But, I'm doing this for fun, and with the more help I can get the better it will be. I'm doing the heavy lifting of this project, but still looking for those who are interested in helping. This will be a free PDF book or it can be purchased at cost (no commission to anyone helping) through Lulu.com

You want to help PM me... great! You don't want to... no problem.
What I am looking for was already specified. I'm looking for people interested in doing write-ups on the games... this will include basic details on the game and brief info on game play as you might see in the old EGMs or Gamepro. As stated I will send an example to those interested in helping. That will be specific enough once you read it if you are truly interested. If disinterested then move on with your life.

Stop busting the guy's chops. This is no different than the project by SunTeam, and everyone lapped that up. Looks like it has a lot of potential to me. I may even volunteer to contribute. As long as I'm paid loyalties lol. Send me what you're looking Ayce.  :)

Stop fluffing the dude, toymachine78.  He already has yo momma to do that.

(in secret, i kind of agree, though paul went balls-to-the-walls and used a tremendous amount of personal talent to solo-produce a work of f*cking art.  if i ever fapped to ayce's book, i'd be thinking of paul the whole time.)
Paul's book was great. I really enjoyed the humor he interjected. On the other hand, I really like the idea of involving the community (as long as they are well informed... ie leave out Necro :P )

Nully, you need to secretly hide your boner under the couch cushion again lol

Im cool as long as he is not profiting off community efforts. "YOU do the work, I reap the benefits."
I hope thats not the case here.

Though I couldn't agree more with you on that, but it's not within my power. The way lulu.com works is you have the (Cost) of the book and you can add a profit or (Sale Price). I would leave it with no profit... just as I do with the card game I mentioned above or Tee-shirts that I have sold in the past. I can definitely understand the hesitation. I am a man of my word, and I know that there are only a couple of you who may be able to testify to that. This is a completely nonprofit project. I have already worked countless hours on this and I'm not looking to make a dime off of it. You may ask why would anyone do that... Three reasons.
1. I am a fan and I do it for the community.
2. I love expanding my skills for commercial art... This is one way I can do it since I've never done a layout on something this large.
3. My contract on my current job prohibits me having any other job, as well as for any book I write becomes property of the company I work for until separation.

The thing is... if you were to take the PDF form of the book (again that will be offered for free) and sign up at lulu.com yourself and have them print it for you at cost it would be the exact same price as the one that will already be set up for anyone who does not want to do the extra work of setting up the book format.

It's up to you guys. Maybe I'll just do this myself... or maybe I'll just try and use the original people who were working with me on this back in 2010. I'd like to include as many people as possible.

This is no different than the project by SunTeam....

Wrong; Paul demonstrated his ability to write intelligent and witty reviews, fact check, and lay out attractive pages long before the book came along.  Ayce has provided nothing of the sort.

But I'm not saying he's incapable or that he shouldn't be doing this project.  I say go for it, but it's not surprising that people are skeptical, especially when the original post asking for help is so flawed.

Hey Ayce, if you haven't already, can you post a sample page or two? Or just an example of the type of thing you're looking for? I'd be interested in helping, but I'd like to see some sort of style guide or example.

As for the proof of work... I guess the information I already posted back in 2010 is probably gone off the site by now. Also of what I posted just a few posts back about my last project http://www.cardfighterproject (http://www.cardfighterproject/) was either ignored or no one bothered clicking on.

Necormancer is right... I don't have witty writing skills which is one of the reasons I'm also asking that users of the forum write the reviews. When I get back home I will post an example of one page to the public forum. I have been sending a lowres example to the private areas to those who actually showed an interest. Because it's still in development I didn't want to release anything, but if that is what it may take to show you what I have been working I will do that.

Hey Ayce, if you haven't already, can you post a sample page or two? Or just an example of the type of thing you're looking for? I'd be interested in helping, but I'd like to see some sort of style guide or example.

I will get that info for you when I get home where I have it saved to a document for easy cut and paste.

Ayce, great idea opening this up to the forums and making this a community project!  I know having more than just three or four people contributing will improve the quality of write up/articles!!  Thanks for bringing this little project back from the dead.  :)

I'll get back to you once some free time pops up and I can send you some of the work I've put together thus far!

Thanks Josh for all the help you put in when this project started in 2010. I wish that I wouldn't have lost so much of the details with my HDD crash. I'm now backing up the work on multiple hard drives just in case.

I know the pain of harddrive crash. It's happened to me. I almost gave up, myself. It took years to get back.

I would LOVE to contribute some writing to this. Particularly, Bomberman, which was the game that got me into gaming.  My dad would play the game all the time. He'd never use passwords. 1-1 to 8-8 every time, if he could.  I still remember my sister and I playing outside, when my mom first called and said "COME INSIDE! YOUR DAD BEAT THE GAME!"

We all ran in, watched the ending, and my dad was so happy.  It was amazing, and I will never forget it.  It's the only video game he ever played that much.  He wouldn't always beat it, but he'd usually play for a few hours before either dying, or getting stuck without the detonator, or "control" as we called it.

So glad I came back to the forum today.  I missed TG16 discussion.

It would be inappropriate to let our homebrew devs write their own entries, but you have a unique opportunity to include a little commentary or a few quotes from them to flesh out the entries some. Definitely try to include them somehow.

Yes, I really like that idea. Like I said previously... I have not decided fully how to implement the Homebrew stuff. I don't want to use the usual review/write-up as with the majority of the games. I want to do something a bit different with the homebrew.

They was nice, but too much money.
