Post by: slinkyturd on November 14, 2014, 01:21:19 PM
Much like my worst huey poll, I'm doing the opposite.
Pick 15

Well that was hard to do.

Fortunately, in real life, we don't need to make a Turbochip Sophie's choice.

Good thing there were 15 choices. :)
If I had to absolutely pick the BEST U.S. Huey, it would be Bonk's Revenge or Bomberman 93.
My FAVORITE to play though are Tonma, Bonk's Adventure and Legendary Axe.

Splatterhouse may be the most overrated game on the system. Seriously, it's not a bad game, but compared to Silent Debuggers, Super Star Soldier or Space Harrier? No contest.

Splatterhouse as a game is fun, and better than both wonder momo and bravoman (though I like bravoman)
As a port, the graphics are severely downgraded from the arcade.

Splatterhouse isn't overrated. If it were widely released in America on other systems (the better versions of it, that is) then one could make the argument but in the US it's only in one place. In fact the system exclusives make this system. The ports seen on other US systems are essentially trash, with few exceptions (Cadash, maybe that's it really). I can't fathom anyone voting for space harrier or hit the ice above. It's like a vote for the green party or the libertarian party.

Since it is the only US Turbochip I own, my vote goes for Blazing Lazers. All guns blazing!

I still enjoy Splatterhouse... actually it's the only game in the series that I even like.

On my first pass through I checked 22 boxes and had a hell of a time narrowing it down to 15. The future rounds of this may prove challenging just to determine what to vote for.
I think Blazing Lazers is my overall favorite; good luck to you my old friend.

I really enjoy Splatterhouse 2 as well. It kept what made the original great and made it bigger. My friends and I had an epic night beating that game. Splatterhouse 3 is good but F that timer and just too many changes I didn't like. The newer Splatter house on PS3 and 360 sucks my left one.
On the topic at hand, someone voted for Impossamole. I really tried to give that game a chance and went in with an open mind but the play mechanics are just garbage.

Splatterhouse is a fine game, don't get me wrong. I just wouldn't consider it one of the best on the system. Take away the atmosphere of the game and basically you have Vigilante. Which is also a fine game, but not one of the best on the system.

You either know me in real life, or stumbled across a message perfectly crafted to troll me. :D I voted for Space Harrier and I lean heavily libertarian. :)
EDIT: WTF, Splatterhouse has more votes than Air Zonk.

Damn, I accidentally checked Aeroblasters when I meant to check Air Zonk >_<
Can we modify our vote?

I love Splatterhouse! It is way better then Vigilante. One of it's key strengths is despite being a single plane beat em up it manages to keep thing fresh for every level. It also has one of the most creative bosses in video gaming history (fighting a possessed room). The game also doesn't pull any punches (ha!) with your girlfriend getting killed so you end up just getting revenge in the end. Who doesn't like the fight with the monster who keeps changing back to your girlfriend calling out for you to help her only for her to change back and you kill her/it? That was a pretty big deal back in the day avoiding the "happy Hollywood ending"

I'm loving how Ninja Spirit is sitting on top of this poll. That game is mighty and epic. It almost single-handedly makes up for the PCE's general library wide lack of quality platformers. To me, it's the best ninja themed platformer of the 8 and 16-bit era. Even more so than the Ninja Gaiden trilogy and Shinobi III.

Someone other than me voted on Veigues! :D No one besides me voted for Silent Debuggers though :( these two games are so underrated. Not perfect but not gunboat tier either.

I must agree... out of the hueys, veigues and debuggers are top tier.
Debuggers might have the first gay erotic tension ever in a videogame, very progressive and innovative I must say. "Debuggers do the dirty work, and I. LOVE. IT"

For a single player experience I'd have to say it's a tossup between Bonk's Revenge and Blazing Lazers, with Air Zonk coming in a very close third for me.
However, for multiplayer it's a tossup between 5-player Dungeon Explorer and 4-player Hit the Ice.
"Why I Oughta!!"
