Title: WTB: Sega CD (fixed my X'eye no need to buy a Sega CD anymore)
Post by: munchiaz on November 25, 2014, 04:46:26 AM
Hey guys. I'm in the market for a Sega CD. I currently have a model 2, and a JVC X'eye but both don't work. Since i'm not to handy with a soldering iron and what not, i figured i would just get a working Sega CD and part with these broken ones in the hopes that someone will be able to buy them and salvage them. a model 2 Sega CD is preferred, but I would be willing to get a different model for the right price.

What's wrong with the other units?  I think I have an extra Model2, I will try and check the Sega hoard this week.

The X'Eye has issues with the disc tray. It only spins once or twice then stops. The Model 2 i believe has a fuse issue. I have tried fixing both myself but have failed. I'll try to get some pics and what not of what i have done. it was awhile ago so i kind of forgot what i did. I think i may have switched out the CD assembly from the model 2 to the X'eye as well

I have a good model 2.  I would be interested in the broken xeye.  PM me if you're interested.

So with the help of chop, and dragonmaster Dan, i was able to fix my X'eye today. Turns out i had a bad laser. I swapped it out with a laser from the sega saturn and its up and running now. So no need to buy a Sega CD anymore. Thanks for showing interest in selling to me guys.

Nice!  Xeye is a solid unit, the only drawback is the hard time using a 32X with it (a negligible fault).  The bonus though, is that the Xeye cart slot is big enough to fit Genny and MD style games without any modification!
