I bought Strider for PCE on ebay for $50 + $16 shipping and thought I was getting a great deal.
Only when I get it home I find out it's not the game... it's actually the soundtrack. The cover looks almost exactly the same minus the ARCADE logo and a bit more cropping on the image. I got the issue worked out with the seller and now I don't know what I'm going to do with the CD. I haven't decided if I was going to keep it or get rid of it.

Dude, keep it. :)
-
Ooops, that's unfortunate. What're the tunes from (arcade?), and is it actually from Capcom or a doujin?
-
I say rip the music and if you don't want it resell it and try and recoup like $30
That way you still get something for it and it is not a total loss. I am sure there is someone here who likes collecting music from games much like how some collect music from movies and anime.

Was it advertised as the game? Link to auction would be interesting to see.
-
Haha, that's kind of funny.
I've seen people make similar mistakes when they jump on a great BIN just to find out it's like only the original box or some other component instead of the full game.
You live, you learn, and you pay attention next time. ;)
With PCE, always look for the HE System logo.

This one was sold as the PCE game... luckily I was able to get all but the shipping refunded.

I think it may be the PCE soundtrack, but I couldn't tell you for sure as I've not ever played it.

Buyer Beware.
-
It's the arcade soundtrack plus whatever arranged tracks they have.
Anything that says "Scitron" or GSM... is guaranteed to be a soundtrack.

Thank you for clearing that up for me.

also if states Pony Canyon, PC logo, 99% that's a CD, DVD or Anime related product as this company is a massive publisher for movies, anime and music, but they rarely make or publish any games ( only like 30 games in past 30 years)

And the fact the title is at the top.

Hey, thanks for posting your experience. I might have stumbled on that in the future, still looking for that game myself. Good to know that!
Were you able to get the game by now?
-
I haven't revived it in the mail yet, but yes. I stumbled on another one for around $53 + 9 shipping. So this ended up being basically a wash and I ended up with a bonus. I guess what happened was the CD case being white and the cover art being the same I took their word for it and forgot about the branding that should have been on the cover.
