Title: Sony
Post by: bob on December 18, 2014, 11:37:59 AM
This whole sony thing is nuts. So they cancelled the movie release entirely. Sony is claiming an "insider" was assisting north korea with the hack. Now an activist group is trying to obtain legal dvds from sony, so they can drop them from the sky over north korea.
A theater in dallas area was going to screen Team America World Police, but Paramount canned that too and wont allow it.
Its a scary precedent that Sony is setting here, by caving to the threats.

I remember seeing a thread on Something Awful with all their pitch slide shows... truly ridiculous for a company their size! No wonder they usually end in the red every year.

Now it would be funny if a Sony Pictures movie made North Korea take over Seoul, nuke Japan and start World War III.

I suspect this movie I'll be leaked online sooner then later. Review copies were already sent to movie critics

It's not the first time a review copy or Oscar consideration copy of a film was leaked.

Sure this movie was getting Piss poor reviews and at best it may only be an average comedy. All depending if you even find Rogan funny. But I lreffer to make my own judgments On my way! heater or not I see a movie.

I mean I live in a world where movies like tusk, and room with a view exist.

Rogen is tremendously unfunny, so no big loss that it wasn't released. Also, Sony Japan is probably scared of nukes, so I have no idea why people think this is a NK-US thing. And it wouldn't be World War III, it would just be the world destroying DPRK. Does anyone really believe that China would back them up at this point? They have better things to do, and don't care for the instability their regimes cause.

Extremely scary actions.  We should never cave in to these threats.

And absolutely I believe China (or Russia) would happily and secretly foment anything to harm the USA, even if only its image.
Yup. It wouldn't be DPRK vs US, it would somehow be DPRK (puppet for China) vs South Korea (puppet for US).

Best Korea can go suck a bag of cocks.  Instead of worrying about some dumb movie that's critical of the US as well (god help us if we ever have to rely on dipshit reporters to spy and/or assassinate world leaders for us), worry about your own people starving to death.

No one is starving. Everyone is happy. Happy and smiling. Prosperous. They are happy!!

Really, did anybody know this film was coming out before this attack? Did anybody have any expectations that this film was going to be anything more than mediocre?

There hasn't been any hard evidence to say North Korea were involved except the FBI saying they were, there's more evidence to say it was someone else (prime suspects being China or Russia). With the way things are going in Russia with sanctions and the Rouble crashing and them almost blaming the West, I would say that's the place to start looking.

But really, are we missing out not seeing the film? I suspect not.

But, really, FBI? WTF do they know about anything anyway?  I blame Canada.

For once I feel a little sorry for Sony though, they didn't really have any choice but to pull the film. No theatres were going to show it anyway because of the threats, but its Sony that get the blame and everyone's rage...Oh well, give it a week and you'll be able to download it anyway...you may still have it for Christmas :D
