Title: Duo-R Running on my Neo Geo 50 Candy Cab control panel
Post by: Nec.Game.head on December 22, 2014, 06:27:10 PM
Just thought I'd share this little project that I'm working on. I pad hacked 2 PC Engine controllers, wired them up to my Neo Geo 50's control panel and I'm using a RGB Scart to Component converter to display the image on my 42" LCD monitor. Just like that I'm able to play my Duo-R off of the Neo 50's control panel. My plan is to buy another XRGB as I got rid of my old one to interface it with my 42" LCD screen and be able to emulate scanlines on it for a much more authentic look. And I also will be ordering a Jamma fingerboard to solder my pad hacked controllers to and be able to connect it directly to my Neo 50's Jamma edge connector. I love playing my Duo-R on my Sony BVM's but their is something about playing it off of a Candy cab that makes it feel that much better !! Here is a pic of it as is so far. What do you guys think of my idea ??

Looks great, but doesn't pounding on the arcade buttons make the CD skip?

When can I visit? Tell me you live near NYC. Thank you.

Finesse. All it requires is finesse. No skipping, then :)

ccovell so far I have no had any issues regarding the Duo-R skipping. My plan is to have it inside of the cab once I make the Jamma edge connector for it. If I do at some point end up with any skipping I'll just have it setup on the side of the cab. Hopefully I won't have any issues with that at any point.

esteban Lol dude I wish I was in your area or vice versa !! We would definitely be having some awesome Obey sessions !! Still residing in wonderful Downey CA.

Necromancer Yeah I totally understand the whole LCD screen and retro gaming thing. I typically only run my consoles on RGB monitors, lol but I just couldn't help myself !! Had to try out on the Ol Duo-R on my Neo 50. Hopefully when I score on another XRGB the overall image quality will be a bit more acceptable. As I have busted some balls for doing this kind of thing in the past. I switched up the monitor type on the cab as the original 50" rear projection screen CRT is in a massive wooden enclosure !! This method gave me back tons of space and also allows for me to run my Naiomi Arcade hardware on it. Had to compromise a bit on this project to make it work a bit more universal with different types of hardware.

Thanks guys for the input !! Keep em coming !!

Lol And you know this man !! You've got the eagles eye for spotting out the your ol girl !! She's been fully overhauled since I got her from you a few years back. Replaced the old laser, RGB 5volt amp added, new mod chip installed, and I added a green LED light to the power switch and I also replaced the standard red LED on the CD reading light with a 4 color cycling LED. Loving every minute of owning her !! Thanks once again !!
