Hi to all the fellow tg16 enthusiests. I just recently signed up here. Been a member of Atariage for the past several months and just found out about this site.
So my first introduction to the tg16 was a long time ago when I was in the supermarket with my mother. I went to the magazine section to pass the time. There I saw an issue of VG&CE with this magnificent looking handheld on the cover. It was the turbo express, and I was intrigued! Well what seemed like years of calling toys r us everyday, I finally got my turbo express the day it came out, for a hefty fee of course! A few years later I got a deal on a used tg16 and slowly my library of games began to grow.
Fast fwd through life 20 years, I dig out my Turbo express. Much to my dismay the sound and screen don't work anymore! Boy was I pissed. To distract myself I bought a PC engine, and maybe have about 30 hu cards for that system now too! One day I found an eBay seller who repairs turbo expresses. I jumped on it and after a week, it was returned working good as new! Ever since then I have been obsessed with the great TG16 and I am pumped to find this community to read and share posts. Looking forward to seeing and learning more about tg16/PC engine etc from all of you. And hopefully some new releases! Anyway that is my story and wanted to share.
eventually I want a duo rx and wil explore the cd games, and if money is just being handed to me,a supergrafx too!

Welcome, WOW getting a Turbo Express Day one would have blown my mind! That thing was so rare and legendary at least at my School Lunch Tables. Glad to have another true fan here.

When there are bully's involved they see anything as an opportunity to drown their sorrows in name calling and hurtful statements. I received your pm buddy and I'll get started on the hugs as soon as I can. In the mean time please read up on the "Words Hurt" program and always remember, " Be sure to taste your words before you spit them out". That alone is a huge step in the healing process.

That was bad, even for you. I know your trying really hard and I appreciate your effort but I think your skills are lacking.

My brother got an express at launch to play our TG-16 games on. I was so jealous the first night, I had gotten a GameBoy and he had gotten the Express that Christmas Morning. When we went to bed in our bunk beds I remember seeing this glow from the top bunk and was so jealous of his back lit screen, not even considering the quality of games he was playing compared when I could play had my Gameboy been lit.
However, that next morning we were playing our systems, and his ran out of batteries and my gameboy kept trucking. He got another set of batteries, and then began his tirade of gloating again. Needless to say later that day he ran out of batteries again, and the jealousy tables had turned as I was still on my first set (of less batteries) and hadn't needed to bother the parentals for more batteries/money. That is when he made the choice that I regret not discouraging to this day, he decided he didn't want the Express, he'd rather have a system he couldn't play in the dark but could play without needing to constantly ask for batteries or tethered to an AC outlet, so he requested that it be returned and exchanged for a gameboy with games. I still wish we had the express, and to this day want to replace it and relive the memories with it, so now I am jealous of random internet friends! Congrats on the working express, and I hope you enjoy it!

The battery life was definitely a big disappointment! I played the most plugged in via ac adapter, thank goodness I had one.
