I saw that there was a post for what game deserves a remake, so I decided to make one for sequels. There are a few that come to mind right away for me.
1. Phantasy Star 5
2. Shining Force 4
3. Neutopia 3
4. Lunar Sequel to Silver Star Story and Eternal Blue
5. Eternal Darkness
What would you like to see?
-
Bonk! The lil caveman deserves more, dammit.
-
I always wished there was a 3D Bonk game in the style of Mario 64. Is that blasphemous?
-
Three of my choices have already been mentioned (Phantasy Star 5, Shining Force 4, Lunar sequel) and one sequel has been announced recently (Langrisser), in addition to those I would add:
Tengai Makyo
Samurai Shodown RPG
Cosmic Fantasy
Soleil (Crusaders of Centy)
Breath of Fire
Skies of Arcadia...
...and probably loads of others.

Be careful what you wish for. There's a big difference between wanting a sequel and wanting a quality sequel that doesn't tarnish the reputation of the series in question. Would you want a third Lunar game if it's on the same level of quality as the prequel Dragon Song for DS was for example?

yeah we want the shittiest sequels possible for our pipedream poll here on PCEFX.

I agree 100%. It would have to be a sequel that is like the same quality as the original games.

Tengai Makyou Fuun Kabuki Den "Tsu!"
A sequel to Ys that disregards Ys II and treats the original game as it presented itself (in the SMS version at least).
Legend of Xanadu III
A real sequel to Phantasy Star that retains the same fantasy-touched-with-sci fi theme and gameplay that doesn't feel like a different series.
Golvelius II SMS
Wonderboy II (no Monsterlandworld crap)
Alex Kidd in Miracle World 2, which keeps everything that worked and fixes everything which didn't.
Final Lap Twin RPG2
AD&D Treasure of Tarmin II
AD&D Cloudy Mountain II
A "sandbox" Lock 'N Chase sequel, where you roam the streets of the city map dodging cop cars similar to the original gameplay. You can enter mall, store big and small, even homes and find all kinds of interesting itens to rob once you clear all the dots and then get to the exit before getting caught and move on to the next score.
Tengai Makyou "The Apocalypse IV" sequel that spans Kanata and "Russia" and the final stretch reaches Jipang.
-
Why do Golvellius II on SMS. It's already on MSX where it's better anyways.
The sequel already exists. I thought we were talking about games that NEED a sequel.
So, wouldn't "Golvellius 3" be more appropriate.
-
I would second Phantasy Star 5 (or third considering Black Tiger is on board too), and definitely a new game in the Legacy of Kain series!
-
The Guardian Legend? Yeah I'm on a The Guardian Legend kick as of late. :P

Sequels technically exist for most of the games I listed. I am a console gamer, I have never owned an MSX system and I love the SMS and specifically that version of Golvelius. There's a fan sequel of sorts to the first Golvelius that I believe is also on MSX. As with most of my choices, I want an alternative to the sequels we got. Ys IV Mask of the Sun isn't "Ys V".
I'd also prefer other sequels to be on the same hardware as their predecessors. Technically Tengai Makyou III Namida exists, but it feels like just another PS2 RPG. I'd much rather play the originally planned TMIII for SCD or ACD.
I don't really like any of the post Dawn of Ys Ys games either. It would be nice to have a proper Ys sequel on PCE.
Obviously, everyone wants more Guardian Legend. :)

ultra air zonk 3!!!
or matbe lords of thunder 2?
-
Hell yes more Zonk! It's a shame that he only got the one mediocre sequel before fading away.

Wonderboy II (no Monsterlandworld crap)
We have monster lair and the adventure islands, but I agree 100%. New co-operative original wonderboy style game ?? Get some koshiro super adventure island + monster lair tunes in there and it'd be golden.

Would take be called..... MC² + 2 ?
-
Sonic Adv.. just kidding. I'm also for a Bonk 4 along with these:
- Kickle Cubicle 2
- Super Air Zonk 2
- Rad Racer 3
- The Goonies 3
- Megamania 2
-
- Kickle Cubicle 2
OMG YES
Kickle is one of my all time favorite puzzle games. Too bad Irem didn't make more because it's clear they were capable of making good ones.
I've always wished this and Metal Storm were ported to Pc Engine

I agree about Metal Storm.

Here is my list of games that need to have a sequel. It can be part of a series that they haven't continued for many years.
1. Wild Arms Series - This is just a fantastic JRPG series. But unfortunately, we haven't seen a new sequel since Wild Arms 5 for PS2. I'm still playing through the series, but at least a mention of a new sequel would be nice. This series fit in the same league as Final Fantasy, Lunar, and Suikoden. Sony, are you listening?
2. Actraiser - It's such a good game that it needs a proper sequel. Actraiser 2 for SNES didn't really count because it was somewhat a different game. I guess since we already have an Actraiser 2, Actraiser 3 would be just as good.
:-)
3. Altered Beast - I don't really care if people didn't like this game. It was just awesome when I played Altered Beast back in the day and even these days. There was a sequel called Project Altered Beast for PS2, but it was a sorry 3D game not even worth mentioning. Sega needs to make a sequel we would be proud of.
4. Lunar Series - I don't really need a remake per say, but a sequel in the mainline series (i.e. Lunar 3) would be incredible. Gamearts did talk about a Lunar 3 like 10 years ago, but it never came into fruition. I love that series just as much as Suikoden. They need to hurry up. lol.
5. Suikoden series - Similar to the Lunar series, I do want this series to continue its legacy into the new generation. Imagine a military vs military battle of millions of soldiers screaming on the screen in full 60 fps! Woohoo. That would be epic to the extreme.
6. Final Fantasy Tactics - Geez, it's been such a long time since this game came out. Yet, Square Enix hasn't even talked about a sequel. I think it would be a mega seller if they would release a sequel to this game. I guess they would rather port the mainline series to numerous cell phones and devices instead of focusing on their great heritage.
7. Vandal Hearts Series - They released a side story sequel for PS3 back in 2010 called Vandal Hearts: Flame of Judgement. It was a digital-only title. Yeah, the game was pretty good, but we need a true sequel. Guys, if you are a fan of Final Fantasy Tactics, this is the second best strategy series of all time.
8. Wizards & Warriors series - If you know me, you already know I like this series for the NES and Game Boy. But they really need to put this on a modern system with an upgraded game engine, but still in 2D. I don't care, release it as a digital-only title. That would still be sweet.
9. Lagoon - Alright, so hardly anybody knows about this game. But you know what? It was a nice little action RPG game. I still like it a lot and own a beautiful mint condition copy. It would be cool if they would ever release a sequel for this one. I would pre-order it in a heartbeat.
10. Double Dragon series - Yeah boy, I need an official Double Dragon IV right now. Hint: Double Dragon V fighting game didn't count. And make it with 32-bit 2D graphics similar to the NES games but with all new characters (but include the brothers), goofy girlfriend storyline, and crazy acrobatic moves.
11. Golden Axe series - Alright, enough with the goofy remakes and sequels, we need a real Golden Axe 4. Sega has such a rich history, but they keep doing Sonic 3D games and stuff people don't care about. Below are some more Sega games that need sequels real badly.
12. Phantasy Star series - Yep, another Sega JRPG classic series that they haven't gone back to the original formula for decades. Phantasy Star 4 was a big hit, but they stopped it since the Genesis days. We do need a sci-fi JRPG for our modern times. I'm starving for one, how about you?
13. Shining Force series - Another great strategy series they have ignored for so long. I enjoyed Shining Force 3 very much. I would say it stands at 3rd place after Vandal Hearts and Final Fantasy Tactics, as far as strategy games are concerned.

Yeah, they should, it's a great game. It's not a style I thought I'd like, but I got into it and found myself really enjoying it.

the world needs Magical Chase 2

the world needs Magical Chase 2
I would prefer a new Cotton game personally (and have a classic mode to include old releases), but I guess Ripple is OKAY.

did I say Magical Chase 2? I meant Magicoal Chase 2 (known as Magical Cheese 2 outside the US).
Seriously speaking, I agree a new Cotton game would be preferable. Even some kind of fancy 2.5 HD remake.
-
Some more came to mind!
Lufia 3 (not counting the gameboy games)
Secret of Evermore 2
-
Megaman 11
Chrono Trigger 2
-
Crystalis, bitches.
Also Double Dungeons, Little Nemo, Times of Lore, Vigilante, Time Soldiers, and Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu.
All of those games that already have a series of sequels don't need anymore.
-
I'd love to see a sequel to Fatal Fury Mark of the Wolves on AES/MVS Hardware, a better FLASHBACK Sequel besides Fade to Black, and for the love of GOD Half Life 3, please please please!!!!
