Is there a visible mark on the disc?

Might wanna try the toothpaste method if all else fails...

No not really. Nothing I would consider worse than superficial. Actually, it looked better before I cleaned it with the repair solution. I guess that's similar to toothpaste.

What other CD games do you have to test out? Hopefully it isn't a memory or ADPCM audio issue.

Make sure to check the label side of the disc. Most CDs are actually largely unprotected from the top. At least on bottom there's a layer of plastic, but the top is usually protected only by some glue and the ink. I had to pass on a really cheap copy of SamSho IV on Saturn because I could tell that a nick on the label side went all the way through to data layer.

Well popped in X again tonight and it played fine. Whew!!!!! (https://emoji.tapatalk-cdn.com/emoji28.png)  The universe is in harmony again.

Pretty strange though. The only thing I can figure is that the system card wasn't properly seated.
