Not sure if anyone here would care, but Hawkens FB page has come back to life. I know that the game kinda went into a limbo there and all but evidently its coming back up, per what their FB page is stating.

I did Alpha and Beta testing for this game. It was pretty bad ass, but something happened along the way and the updates and content stopped coming. For those of you who don't know what it is, and are curious, you can view some gameplay here:

Did the stupid f*cks make the goddamn controller yet, or is that still not a thing?
-
Not that I am aware of. I played it with just a keyboard and mouse. Honestly you could probably could have rigged up two flight sticks to play with it I suppose. I'm just too lazy to do all that.
-
I was really hoping for their mongoloid controller to replace my Steel Battalion addiction.
I don't think that controller will work right because the left stick only goes L/R. Does Hawken require two fully rotational sticks?
-
Couldn't a controller with 2 analog pads simulate the 2-stick configuration?

This + room off + black lamp = I'm no longer in the basement playing a game. I am a mech pilot, and shit's about to go down.

and no, I'm not editing the image width. f*ck YOU ESTEBAN.

damn. absolutely jelly

The problem with the stick set up Arkhan is that they started to speed up the pace of the game a bit too much by introducing faster mechs. I'm honestly not sure how well it would play with two sticks now, because you'd probably get outpaced by the smaller faster light mech players using normal keyboard and mouse setups for faster reaction times.
Players complained about this kind of stuff because people were starting to feel like it was more like Quake 3 and less like a mech game, but the developers wouldn't listen. The larger mechs were being made irrelevant except in certain choke points due to the unbalance, making the game kind of crappy depending on what mech you wanted to play.
Just another case of devs making the game they want to play, not the game the customers want to play. I am hoping that things will change for the better with the new owners of the game taking over. Only time will tell. There is hope at least.

Well, if it doesn't work with a two-stick "pretend I am a mech pilot" setup, I could care less. They can all go die in a fire.
Steel Battalion was such a brilliant game. Someone needs to do that again.
Maybe I will do it.
YEAH.

Make it for the PCE and I'll buy it.

That is awesome. But I feel that it is too clean and has that "new mecha smell" ...a truly hardcore rig would be BATTLE WORN.
