Title: online place to buy tg16 games
Post by: musicman130 on April 05, 2015, 05:14:41 AM
I was wondering where you can find TG16 games at a decent price online?  Ebay is rediculous price in my opinion, granted I don't know how much a game is for the system since I am new to it.  I just want a few shooter games to tide me over til I can get an everdrive.

PC Engine system + several shooters is cheaper than several TurboGrafx-16 shooters.

Turbo stuff is for collecting, not for people looking for deals.

With that said, I don't know what you consider rediculously expensive, since you can buy Turbo shooters on eBay right now for $20 - $30.

Are there specific games you are looking for?

To me, 30 is a lot of money for a shooter, especially when the everdrive is 80.  I just wish there was a place where the everdrive was sold with a case on it.  i see stoneage gamer has one, but I don't need case and all that other crap that makes it double the price.  I just want the cartridge with some protection for the pieces that make it work.

It seems most good games for the system run in the $20-$30 range, so...good luck.

If you don't use the forum as just a marketplace you may find yourself eligible for some 'community' prices.

i would try gametz.com? but if you're hoping to get some good shooters for the system, you might have to pay up a little for the good ones. i would just save up for an ever drive

Independent online shops with decent prices were slowly discovered and cleaned out of Turbo goods last decade. Being a resourceful Turbo shopper was fun and rewarding. Now the deals go to whichever brainless loser logs the most hours refreshing their newly-listed search on Ebay.

There are still a couple of domestic shops that sell commons on the low side of average. Japangamestock occasionally has a PCE game for less than the going rate. Once in a while a minor deal shows up on Amazon, Estarland, or Half and sits for a couple days before someone grabs it.

I bought one or two from here in the past.

Your best bet is the turbo everdrive if you think 20 or 30 is a lot for a game. For the turbografx, 20 or 30 is cheap  :-"

ugh... i can't stand lukie games... lists everything as COMPLETE and shows a stock photo of the box, but often times it is just a loose hucard he's selling.  His prices aren't so hot, either.

Seconded.  His prices suck & his shit's almost always loose.

I think I just bought a real common game off of the site. I agree that the prices aren't too great. I stick to ebay and amazon mostly when looking for games.

When you click on a game, it does say either game only or case instructions and game. Prices aren't the best though.

Keep your eyes peeled til you get lucky. I managed to get a lot of about 8 games a couple of years ago for £10 and that included parasol stars and legendary axe 2 so well worth it. That was on eBay.

I've had good luck with eStarland in the past, but haven't ordered from them in years. One time, I ordered a copy of Bravoman that they had listed as "loose" and it came complete, in box, wrapped. Not bad!

When you click on a game, it does say either game only or case instructions and game. Prices aren't the best though.

When you sell a product, it should be readily apparent what condition it's in.  "Complete" and "cartridge only", sorry to say, are mutually exclusive, and therefore should be used only where they apply.

It's gotten to where, if I see a game with a good price but the photo is stock/box art, I don't even click on it.  That's probably my mistake, but I don't feel like wading through the arbitrary seller text & pointless graphics, only to be met with the words "complete with cartridge only".

Exactly the same here. Stock photos seem to be great indicators that the item either won't be as complete as they want you to think at first glance, or that the condition is going to be nowhere near as good as they describe.

I agree as well. I like console5.com. Ive found their prices very reasonable. Not always a good TG16 section....but has cap kits for systems and many misc. I just bought a turbo express turbovision from them for 9.99.  On Ebay they were selling no cheaper than 50. Needless to say i didnt pass that up :-P

I'm guessing the main reason prices are higher on this system then others is that it never caught on in the US so supply is probably not real high.  I have noticed though that overall vintage games are going up.  I see the original zelda going for $30 on neS which I bought for maybe 10 about 10 years ago and conquer for the n64 I bought for 10 or 15 and I've seen it go for 50 or so.  I think a lot of us that had the games when we were younger are now getting back into the systems causing the prices to go up.  I have never had a TG16 and it is one of my last "affordable" consoles on my list to get.

I am not disagreeing with out. Any place that uses stock photos doesn't help buyers.
