Yesterday member Mathius and his wife Ashley were in a accident on a moped. They were thrown from the moped and hit the ground Ashley blacked out and is banged up pretty good...Matt has a shoulder broken in two places and a back injury....he's going in for surgery tomorrow (no other details yet).
I am starting a fundraiser to help them cover missed time from work and medical bills as we don't know the severity yet, but with back surgery (plus a previous back injury) you know he'll be out for a while.
Anyone interested, please hit me up for more info and I'm taking donations through my paypal and I'mactually driving down to Indiana Sunday night to help them out.
-
Oh my god, ya man I will help for sure. I can give now or after. The nicest people ever and this shit happens. I am thinking of them. Nec let me know man where I can send funds.

Null's the guy you need to keep an eye on.
-
Glad to see you're at least back here and posting. I've been checking back to this thread often in hopes of better news. Hope the recovery goes smoothly!
-
Yeah, welcome back Matt! Hope you're doing better!!
Back in my RIGG days, we had a member that went by 'docfu' who also was the victim of a motorcycle accident... His case was a little bit more atypical than what usually happens suffice to say. A turkey either flew off a tree or the road, landing on him during one of his rides out in the country or wherever it was... He posted a photo in aftermath:

Well, he walked away from it at least, so knock on wood. ;)

That looks awful! Glad he made.
I am feeling a bit better today though typing with my shoulder is still a chore. It's just an awkward position. Though I can still game 100%. :D
I am going to be off work for a while being bored out of my mind and I saw a member here had a Thunderforce V that I've been wanting. Just being up front about it since your generosity has really given me a nice cushion that my poor ass otherwise wouldn't have.
I need to also give a shout-out to bartre who sent me some free obey. Thanks my friend.
-
I hope it's a speedy recovery!

I think I'm going to be okay, Tats. :)
I've just been home all day watching YT and trying to feel useful. It's not working.

I thought that you were going to be home all day playing TG-16 and trying to feel useful.
It probably would have worked. :P
-
It's weird, I haven't had the urge to play anything yet. I'm feelin' kinda blue. Thoughts of my family and you guys make me feel better though.
-
I had an idea. The wifie is gonna take me to the store tomorrow so I can get some graph paper. I'm gonna finally tackle some dungeon crawlers the proper way. Phantasy Star is top on my list. Any others worth my time? English only please unless it's "Idiot Friendly."
-
Double Dungeons is one of the best games EVER MADE! Same with Silent DeBoogers. Screw crap like Impossamole, these games are what the Turbo is all about! :)
-
when I have loads of time to kill, I usually end up playing a strategy game.
I could play fire emblem for days, yo.
or the shining force series.
or military madness.
or front mission.
or... you get the idea :P
-
Order of the Griffon.

Wizardry 4. Come on man, you know you want to try it. :)
-
Ohh man. I wasn't even aware of this until just now. Im glad you guys are in the recovery stages. I can also help. Just let me know the paypal info
-
get well man. glad to hear you and your wife are recovering.
-
yup speedy recovery and some relaxing gaming time while you are at it :D

I spent many hours mapping out 'Order of the Griffon' on graph paper then transferred the maps to a spreadsheet so I could save them on my computer and print them out only to find that I could have just downloaded them from the internet. Oh well, I like my custom maps and the experience of doing it is unforgettable.
-
Hang in there Matt! I second Double Dungeons and Order of the Griffon. While not a dungeon crawler, if you've got Dragon Force that's one I only play when I have all sorts of time, which never happens anymore.
-

Phantasy Star should remain at the top of your list, after that I recommend Shining in the Darkness and Shining the Holy Ark.
I still have decades-old graph paper maps that I made for those first two games.
Other than that, AD&D Treasure of Tarmin is a great language-free dungeon crawler with smooth 3D dungeons. Each floor generates randomly though, so no need for graph paper on every level.

Advance wars got me through the wife's week in hospital last year.
-
Matt & ashley, glad you guys are doing better.
-

Advance Wars is awesome!
-
Ah Advance Wars and Etrian Odyssey! I will get! :D
Thanks goes to all the new well wishers too!

Quick one-armed status update. Went for my first follow-up appointment yesterday and the orthopedic surgeon confirmed that I had 3 shoulder fractures, but was also happy to report that I still won't need shoulder surgery.
I go back Monday to get the staples removed from my lower back and to see how my surgical implants are doing.
I have no words to really express my gratitude to you fine people. You're my family and I'll always love you all.
And now for something c0mpletely different.... Been playing Dragon's Curse this afternoon.
-
I've been under the knife 7 times in my life(mainly as a kid for my cleft palette & lip). The less one can get by without surgery, the better, though, sometimes it's just plain necessary. Glad to hear you don't need it!

Bad. Crack. Must. Play. Over and over again.

Dragon's Curse?!
I want my donation back... :/
I was waiting for you to make this exact response. Leave the man alone!

Did I miss something? What's wrong with the totally awesome Dragon's Curse?

Aw I'm so sad to hear that, PD. God bless.
-
Good to hear you don't have to get shoulder surgery. I've had surgery on BOTH of my shoulders. I'm fully functional but I'd dread having to arm wrestle someone. When I think about it I can feel the affects of it but normally it's fine.

Along with your gall bladder too? God bless ya, joejoe.
I can't bend over til my Dr says so, and yet, my shoulder is killing me the most right now with the exception of my energy levels. Detoxing off of a few weeks of pain meds blows but I'm stopping the opiate train now while I still can.
-
After months of shoulder pain and being told I'm fine and the bones are healed I went to get a 2nd opinion. Turns out I still have two fractures and I have what is called floating shoulder. Looks like I get to go under the knife a week from Friday to have screws installed
The Doc said he has never seen these two breaks at the same time and I'll be out of action for about 4 months. The actual sucky part is I have to wear a giant sling, even in bed, for 6 weeks. I'm gonna have such a hard time getting comfortable at night. Just an FYI

Can you still game like that? How's TFV treatin' ya?
-
Does it help when the Dr tells you to bend over?
Sorry... couldn't resist...
Glad to hear that at least you've found a doctor who can finish fixing you up!
The real scary part is watching a person's face contort when the doc asks for his backside to "open wide"

Oh man I didn't think about that! I would hope so since my hand will be resting at my stomach.
TFV?

Thunder Force V. :)
Hopefully you'll be able to. Can't let that boredom creep in. There's only so many books one can read before a game break is needed.

Oh! Yeah that game and me have been snubbing each other lately. Gotta work on that. :)

Don't worry, touch pad games (phone, tablet) will work with your nose. Plus, you might be the first person to complete Monument Valley with only your nose (or penis, but I think it needs to be semi-hard for more precision/best results).

Sorry to hear to Matt, that sucks! I've sometimes thought about getting a motor bike for short trips when I need to pick something up quick, but then there's getting caught in the rain, and oh yes, the result of an accident or missing that big ole pothole you should've avoided works differently than if you were in a car... :/
-
*reaches for the blue pill*
Suddenly the iconic scene from The Matrix has a completely different subtext!
Also, if you would like, I can share a list of "nose-friendly" games that are available for iOS/Android.
Q: Who needs Oculus Rift when you can play Temple Run with your nose?
A: Nobody.

I still cringe every time I see a scooter.

LOL Temple Run. Who still plays that game?
A: Nobody

Good luck with the recoverin' buddy. Get well in time for MGC!

That's the plan. Though Ashe has already told me that I'm taking it easy next year.

Wow. I just saw this thread. Sorry to hear about your accident Mathius. Hope you're doing ok financially through this recovery.
I ride a supersport and have had many near misses. There's always that pending danger right around the corner. I have a friend that rides and crashed 3 bikes. I've been riding for 3-4 years and haven't downed my bike yet (crosses fingers).

Thanks. That means a lot coming from you. We are blessed to have the people in our lives that we do (that includes you guys!) and are making the bills partly thanks to them.
Don't be like me and always wear a helmet and don't drive "too fast"
