Title: Regarding TE Cartridge Ribbon Cable
Post by: Slypty on May 21, 2015, 07:51:43 AM
I've got a TE with a problem..  After replacing all Caps, I still get a blank screen.   I've read the Video Caps and Backlight Caps with an ESR, and they seem fine.

A few of the Ribbon Cable solder points became loose during fixing, and I had to re-solder them.  I did a spotty job, and although I do read good resistance values from point to point, I'm not sure if I've soldered too heavily on ribbon connector points, causing some overlap of the connections.

If, let's just say I did actually connect a few points on the ribbon cable which are supposed to be separate, would I get no reading on the screen with a game.. or would I get a blotched reading.. or an OK reading?  Anybody have an idea?  Thanks

I've seen games glitch and freeze when the ribbon cable is bad. Some short out in the middle of the cable requiring direct soldering of a new wires in place of the original cable.
