Does anyone know where to buy new pads from? I have an ave pad 3 that needs all three button pads replaced.
-
I've never seen a controller that uses conductive pads quite like that. They're thin, clear and individual for each button. I'd say they're unique to that controller. I had one button that was more easy to press than the others so I rotated it to a less used button (III) to save it from failing on me in the future.

You can use foil tape. Cut out a small circle/oval whatever and stick it to where the carbon used to be on the rubber. I've heard you can use carbon paint but never tried myself.

Is the rubber ripped or is the carbon worn down? I have not taken one of these pads apart, but maybe replacement pads for the genesis buttons (might need trimmed a bit) or super nintendo shoulder button pads (these are smaller diameter, but the nipple might need trimmed) would work.

If the pads are just not making a good connection any more you can simply sand off some of the rubber pad which makes it work again. I just use some light sand paper. A few swipes and they work good as new.

thanks for the replies and help guys :)
They actually still register when I push the buttons, the problem with them is they don't "snap" back into place. Its like the button is always pressed down.
I think I have a dead SNES controller around though, so I will see if the pads from the shoulder buttons work with it. Thanks!

Ok, I had an old mad catz controller for the original xbox that didn't work anymore so I decided to use that instead. I got the conductive pads from it cut into shape and now the controller works perfectly :) All buttons are like new again!
thanks again for the suggestions everyone, it is appreciated!
