Otaku no Video is probably my favorite anime of all time after Bubblegum Crisis.

I like how they can't ship to Japan.

Makes sense since this set in Japan is probably like $200 or something dumb.
I guess I should back this as well.

I already have this on LD and DVD, but I'll buy it again just for the commentary. It's unfortunate they couldn't get Toshio Okada in on this, but I'm sure it will be fun. I'm also interested in the English commentary if it's done with the right people. Sadly the two best people for the job have since died (Toren Smith and Steve Pearl) but the artist formally known as Scott Fraiser would have lots to say.

Man I haven't seen this in years.. and I used to own the VHS tape from those guys!
I think there are moments of live action being shown, one of them was the guy who was in love with the computer game character in a dating sim.. sounds like us ???
Good luck to them

Jan Scott Frazier is normally at NDK and is actually quite interesting to talk to about a lot of stuff. I think she lives in Colorado or something because she's a regular for the convention.

Yikes! Didn't realize Toren Smith was dead! Crap... I have this on DVD and no Blu ray player, so no dice for me. Still, great they're going this route. Was tempted to get a Blu ray player just for the BGC Blu ray release.

Yeah, Colorado, but what's more important in this case is that she lived in Japan during the era depicted in the OVAs.

For sentimental reasons I've still kept my Otaku no Video VHS tape, this and KO Century Beast Warriors are the only two VHS tapes I kept.
I was trying to remember what happened to all my VHS tapes, I had hundreds of them, pretty sure around 2004 I traded them all into Blockbuster in return for credit to rent DVDs. Anyone else do this?

I still have hundreds of VHS tapes. I thought I was going to sell them on eBay years ago (I have lots of rare movies that had not been released on DVD/digital rental, at least not by early 2000's)...
Of course, I kept procrastinating.
15-20 years late.

Traded all my VHS to local used book store for store credit for a few DVD's. Of course I have mounds more fan dub tapes that all went to the trash. I'm not much into watching anime over and over...one viewing is enough because there always something new out to watch instead.

I've got a couple anime tapes that we still keep around just because. My friend and I actually had piles and piles of VHS we copied that are sitting in my closet at my parent's house. Should probably do something with those eventually...
-
Oh snap! Besides the premium tier at $50 they added a Secret Master of Otakudom tier at $75 that comes with a figure, extra patch, and some other content!
Hmm, tempted but gotta save mah pennies!

I have boxes of hundreds of old VHS tapes sitting in storage. Quite a bit of anime. Chop5 and I were having a conversation about Streamline Pictures anime movies having been run on local Chicago TV in the early mid-90s (in some cases unedited except for commercial breaks), stuff like Castle of Cagliostro, Golgo 13 the professional, Barefoot Gen, Doomed Megapolis, Vampire Hunter D, the first half of 3x3 eyes, various Dirty Pair movies/OVAs, Twilight of the Cockroaches among many others. I actually recorded these on VHS and should still have them.

Tempting. I think I'll stick with my old DVD though, until I change my mind.

I'm genuinely surprised that this exists. I've still got it lying around on VHS somewhere at my parents, I think.
