Title: TurboExpress/PCE-GT: Part under the white glue?

Does anyone know what component is beneath the white glue in the top left corner of the PCB, adjacent to the two 100uF 16V caps?

The TE seems to be perfect now after a recap and cleanup, except that I had to pull the speaker's audio from the headphone jack (no output on the board). Could the inductor have play any part in the audio?

Sometime you got audio from headphone jack but Not from speaker after recap may due to the headphone jack issue itself, there is a switch inside the headphone jack which detects if the headphone has been plugged in or not. Thus, mute the speaker.

I used to encounter the issue that the headphone jack always thought headphone has been plugged in even it is Not, I replaced the headphone jack from some spare parts and the speaker works fine since then.

It's just wires around metal rod (or air core, no metal anything within wire coils) and since it uses no chemical (like caps), and not sensitive to static electricity (like ICs) it almost never fails. Overload and excess heat can kill it but if you got overload or extreme heat, the whole GT would probably be melted into black puddle.

Glue are often used because the coils are known to whistle or squeak, and to protect air core coil from being dinged or bumped which could change the induction quality.

I think you nailed it choijimmy, because the AV jack never really worked well on it. I've removed the old one and am waiting on the correct replacement jack to come in now.
