Looks like some sort of Chrono announcement will happen at E3! I'd prefer a sequal(Chrono Break perhaps?), but a remake might be good.

After Chrono Cross I don't want another garbage sequel.

I enjoyed Chrono Cross, but nothing like the first game, Trigger was great!

I feel like almost anything Square would do would dilute the Chrono name more then enhance it at this point.

Well since its has frog's theme music, possibly an official bridge for trigger to cross? Although if it's not, i'm just fine as i still enjoy playing my copy of this  :

So that's finally 100% completed?
I was under the impression that it still had a ways to go.

This was made 2015 and it's the final version released but i doubt it's 100%. I played through it a couple times and didn't run into any major glitches though. Pretty much a must have for any CT fan. The eternity release is supposed to be 100% i believe, although they did change a few things from echoes and it's not from the same person so i passed it by.

Unfortunately, you're probably right, but I can dream! You never know when an unknown variable will pop out of nowhere! :)

So, I tried to think of a way that one could make a Chrono game that would be a sequel and not be horrible, but it is hard. The best concept I thought of would to be having a game that placed you as a character that is not in the original story, but still supporting it in like kind of a behind the scenes retcon.
Maybe for example, in one of the alternate endings something didn't happen right and you got a hold of Epoch after the party dies. Your goal is to go back through time and fix or change things so that the first game can actually happen properly. Like, the Crono clone needs to come from somewhere, maybe one part is going to a point before the ruined age to make the clone and place it at the fair.
I don't know, it seems like there are some unique ways to approach it, but to make it fun and tie into everything that made the original game great is a tall order.

There's lots of ways to do it. Say for example in defeating lavos someone else manages to sneak to the end of time, travels back through. And five years later, say right after the Wedding of Krono and Marle their past or future selves (or Magnus) shows up from another timeline.
A direct sequel would be the way to go rather than a different direction. I often use the term when a sequel/prequel goes off the deep end to be "Chrono Crossed" for example "George Lucas really Chrono Crossed up Star Wars episode 1 the Phantom Menace". I know it's a little derogatory to the Phantom Menace to compare it to such a pungent odored deification on an original game's legacy as Chrono Cross. But hey, this is what happens when fans, websites, youtubers, etc beg for unnecessary sequels with top ten lists of games that need sequels.

Chrono Cross really shouldn't have been shoe horned in as a sequel to Chrono Trigger, but taken on its own merits it is a really good game. A true sequel to Chrono Trigger would be difficult to pull off, perhaps Lavos could have had a creator that now comes to earth, pissed you killed its creation. Actually, that idea sounds like something out of Dragon Ball Z, which would be appropriate.

Can you please post more information about that hombrew/repro? I have never heard of it, and love Chrono Trigger.
I think what Mortal Kombat (PS3/360/PC) did would be an awesome thing to do with the game, or Link Between Worlds. Not a remake per-say, but a new game set in the same world with the same characters. Having time travel or multiple dimensions is a perfect avenue to reset the world and add a conflict. I would love to explore the original world and maybe new regions that were not in the old one - plus new dungeons and re-worked old dungeons. The possibility of this game gets me very excited, and while I am inclined to be negative with Squnix's output over the last ten years or so, games like Bravely Default, Relm Reborn, and Theatryrthem make me more confident in Squares ability to fan serve.
