Hey everyone I just finished modding my Action Replay 4M cart with Pseudo Saturn to let me play backups and I'm overwhelmed with the amount of shooters and other great games to choose from.
I'd like to figure out which games have the best music. I'd prefer to start with shooters that have a sort of metal feel like Gate of Thunder/Lords of Thunder/Sapphire.
What do you think?

I've not tried Albert Odyssey yet but you're not the first person to praise it's music. I gotta check it out sometime; I've just been hesitant to start an RPG due to time! I still gotta finish Front Mission Gun Hazard...
Hyper Duel! That's awesome you say that because I was looking up this stuff the other day and the mech switching sounded cool plus it's Technosoft so I knew I needed it. I think it's the first game I burned and I've never played it before!

So the PseudoSaturn requires patching your games correct?
There's nice fan translations out there of some games and if those could be patched so people can play without a modded unit or a swap trick it would definitely be cool.

Eh, not that I'm aware of; I've only tested two games so far and they both have worked. I'm basically just downloading random ISOs or whatever and burning them with IMGburn. Funny, IMGburn's verify will fail for some reason but the games still work fine! It is seriously cool. I was looking into a mod chip and found this instead.

Burn it to disc then do the swap trick. Then: 1. Put Atlas disc into Saturn, unplug the Cartridge, turn on the Saturn 2. At the blue Atlas "bouncing memory cart" screen, insert your Cartridge 3. Press Start 4. You should now be at a black and white screen detailing all the button functions for Atlus save manager, Press Start 5. Navigate the file menu with up and down on the D-pad and press A to open the FIRMWARE folder 6. Navigate to PSEUDOSAT.bin, Press Start 7. Press Down on the D-pad until you get the * asterisk to "flash Action Replay" 8. Press A, Press A again to confirm 9. follow the instructions on screen and flash the Cartridge 10. Enjoy your newly flashed cart!

What translations were you thinking of?
I was involved in bug testing the US Dragon Force II patch (I own a modded Saturn for playing translations). But it would be nice for this to work as a way for more people to be able to play and experience the translation.
There's Shining Force III Scenario II and III patches out there as well.

Best soundtracks on the Saturn:
Bulk Slash Lunacy/Torico Panzer Dragoon 1/Zwei/Saga
Not up for debate: this is the right answer.
This is not counting arcade ports and stuff that can be played on other systems.
If you are burning games, try out Bulk Slash. Great action. Once you figure out which words mean "Left, Straight, Right" you'll understand what your co-pilots are saying (if not, the big flashing arrow will make it painfully clear). It's a fantastic game and one of the best on the Saturn.
Lunacy has a pretty entertaining story shrouded in an obtuse and confusing adventure game/myst-a-like format. It's a laughable game but if you are not spending money you'll have a good time.
Panzer Dragoon series is fairly "legendary" though the second game outshines the first in all respects outside of maybe use of orchestral music. Saga is a treat to play. As I said if you are not paying for it, play Saga (because the prices are just not worth it).

'Tis true. Panzer Dragoon 1 has the best music of the 32-bit era.
At least for its orchestral tracks (all three of them). Overall, I think that Zwei is the stronger, more dynamic, and interesting soundtrack, but the power of those three orchestral tracks is not something to scoff at. Zwei's tribal/electronic stylings are just too cool to overlook.
And of course Saga just has it all.

Oh shit, "metal"?! Look into Wolf Fang Kuhga 2001, some of the best arcadey FM-n'-PCM rock & roll goodness you can find. I wish Vapor Trail came out on the Saturn...

I gotta get the Panzer Dragoon games working. I have yet to try Souky as well. Sega Rally's guitar is always good and people have claimed that Satriani was involved with it. I still can't get that damn Sonic R song out of my head and I'm scared to play Daytona USA now.
I knew it! Bulk Slash's title screen music reminded me of Sapphire and turns out they were both by CAProduction. Nice!
DragonmasterDan: Apparently overwriting the Action Replay cart with Pseudo Saturn doesn't affect the region free or the RAM function. I think that's why I haven't had to patch my games. It does replace the Gameshark like interface so I can't use the cheats anymore.

If you are really curious, the Saturn/PS1 port of Wolf Fang was released on PSN sometime last year or the year before (can't remember). I don't know if it's only on the JPN PSN or such, but there are ways around that if I understand correctly.
Also, asking for ROMs is not kosher. Just gotta google, man. :P

Oh man. I really hope you like Wolf Fang. It's one of my top 5 games for any console, possibly even #1 if we're talking about 2D games. Such a perfect medley of shooter & platformer, with awesome art & music, all coming together to be one of the few games that does mech anime justice. Just a fun ride.
The "alRIGHT!" voice sample that plays when you pick up a helper dude is priceless, too.

Since Sonic R was already mentioned for tunes, I'll throw in Touring Car. Not metal, but more "can't get it out of my head" songs.

...um...wha? I have Darius Gaiden, Mizubaku Adventure, Darius II, and Metal Black & there's nothing rock about any of those soundtracks. You sure you aren't thinking of some other dev?

I like Panzer Azel's music. It's good, but it also actually comes from the actual Saturn sound chip, by and large, IIRC, which is a nice change. So many 32-but era games were just redbook.
