Title: PC-Engine DUO Color issues
Post by: toxicshock on August 01, 2015, 03:21:06 PM
I searched for color problems but didn't really find a thread about one related to my issue. I apologize if I am repeating a topic. :?:

I recently bought a PCE Duo, region modded, on eBay and am loving the system so far but had a question you might be able to answer. When I'm playing games, the color tends to fade to a more pale color palate back and forth depending what's going on on the screen. Like I was playing the Japanese Bomberman and it would do this on certain levels when I was on the either of the far sides of the board or now I'm playing Military Madness and the colors will change from normal to more pale/gray depending on where the cursor is on the screen. I am using the composite cable that came with it as input to my HDTV and have messed with them a bit to see if that would help. Any ideas? Thanks.

You wouldn't happen to have bought your system from doujindance? :P

if your running composite that sounds like a TV autocolor issue

I bought one from doujindance. I don't use composite but RGB JP21. It looks and works great(for now). What do you know? Please share.

Test it on another TV to see what happens. Might be that your newer HDTV hates the PCE.

I ended up buying an upscaler and I am not having that issue anymore. The downside is that it is locked into widescreen and, for some reason, my tv doesn't have a setting for 4:3. I'm getting used to it now, but I would have preferred to keep the original aspect ratio intact.

seems like your tv internal scaler can't handle  low resolution via composite, is there also lag on the tv?

what brand?

There is no lag at all. The brand is Enko. It was like $35 on Amazon.
