okay, so it's time for me to let this go.
Here's everything you'll be getting:
Sharp X68000 Compact
Compact Flash Hard drive setup
adapter to use a sega genesis controller
adapter to connect standard VGA monitors
some random floppies i have w/ games on em
x68000 keyboard.
some info on this system
It has an internal ram board upgrade (total of 8 iirc, via this board: http://gamesx.com/wiki/doku.php?id=x68000%3Acz-6be2d_-_memory_expansion_board)
the system's internal business has been cleaned and recapped by our very own BlueBMW
Floppy drives work!

Neither link works, and damn me being poor, I'd jump all over this...

fixed!

Cool, you put this up just when I'm getting interested in the X68000! :D
But damn, that's a lot of money! Not saying that they don't go for that over here ... but, I definitely have to ask myself just how "interested" I really am!
Anyway, I have a couple of questions, if you don''t mind ...
Is the compact-flash HDD mod internal, or is it housed in the external HDD box that's shown in the pics?
Is the memory board fully populated, i.e. do you actually have 8MB on the compact?
Is the Sega Genesis adapter the simple 2-button adapter, or a 6-button adapter?
After all the fixes/upgrades/mods is there still enough physical room left in the case to install a MIDI board?
-
elmer, the memory board is fully populated so the system has 8mb total (2mb internal 6mb on the dedicated board) The CF setup is in an external housing so it would be easy to access. With the compact you can pick up a cheap USB floppy drive to write disks if needed. You can format the disks on the system and then write them with something like diskimage on a modern machine. I believe the adapter is just for a 2 button controller. There are two free IO slots so you could easily add a midi board at some point.

Man that thing is purty. Wish I had the money for it. Good luck with the sale though! Hope it goes to a loving home

It sounds like you did a wonderful job renovating it and that it will be a really great system for whoever buys it! :D

I have the same type of machine, also modded/fixed-up by Beemer...that price is fair for the parts included and the quality of work done. You'd pay far more than that on eBay for a similar setup, and it would probably be a garbage machine with leaking caps.

I'm curious ... and there doesn't seem to be much traffic on NFGGames, so I'll ask here ...
When would I need more than 4MB RAM?
In fact, is there a list of games that need more than 2MB (I can only find mention that Super Street Fighter 2 requires it)?
-
when you play games off CF card they load into memory so you need the amount of RAM the game require plus ~1.2Mb per disk to load the game.

Cool, thanks! You learn something new every day. :D
It does sound like a really lovely Compact XVI that Bartre is selling ... but I'm afraid that after considerable thought, the price point is just too far beyond my personal interest-level in the X68000.
I do hope that Bartre finds the right buyer ... it seems like a good price for a USA-based machine of that spec, that's already been restored to perfect working condition.

Beemer also installs fleshlights in the x68000s he refurbishes...not sure if that would sway your opinion.
-
Used fleshlights actually... but imported from Japan. I think they came out of a vending machine. The one right next to the panty dispenser.

You have this listed for $600 on facebook

I told him to change his price. He must of have missed a posting
