Yes? No? I doubt many of our members game exclusively on the PCE, so how bout it?

Wrong!
-
Snes/SFC, Famicom/Nes, PC, and Master System now also for me.
-
nes might be good as i assume many folks here still play it.
-
Not enough people in this forum even play their Pc Engines as it is

I like the concept of doing it on another system, I may propose it for Sega16 with the Genesis since the library there is pretty diverse.

Make it a fighting thread in fighting street. You know, like how dqualls did it with music.
-
I would like to submit Turok Rage Wars. Thank you.

Ditto.

Hey gang. I have to leave on a business trip and will likely be too busy to post for the next three days. My thoughts on this are:
Basically, it would be fine. I could even handle the thread posting duties. Like PunkicCyborg, I would be just a little worried about distracting from PCE gaming, which doesn't happen as often as it should. However, it could also encourage more general community participation around here, and that could lead to more people doing the PCE GOTW. It's worth a shot.
I would not suggest having more than one more GOTW around here, though. :)
Tell you what: if 15 people submit games within a week, I'll start making threads. We can use the same system as the PCE GOTW.
(Note to everyone: if you think it might be nice for someone else to do this, feel free to nominate someone)

I vote Triad Stone! Can't get enough of Powa!
-
I think that it would be great, especially for SMS games, if there were enough people with enough time. But I think that if we ever get enough people with enough time for even PC Engine games, the best thing to do next is try another "let's play a RPG" group.

Agreed.
-
If people really don't have time, we could submit games on the easier side.
I would like to submit Zenki: Battle Raiden. It's a SNES game that even Snerds don't know what it is, but it's by the team that made Hagane.
If this gets off the ground, I'll do a write-up for the game too.
-
I will of course submit a review, but I haven't decided what of yet...though I do agree that we should keep it to games that are mostly cheap/readily available.
-
AGREED: we will all start playing micromachines (NES) tonight.

I would love to do that. I have a few PCE RPGs that I've been wanting to play (i.e. Dragon Slayer, Cosmic Fantasy 1) and it would be cool to do it in a group. I read through pretty much all of one of the previous ones where you all did Legend of Xanadu. And while I still really really want to play that game, not sure it would turn out so well, as the last time showed (though I would be pretty up for doing a let's play for that game at some point in time).
Put me on the list for that, I think that's a great idea. Hell even starting with something easier and short like Mysterious Song would be great. I'd replay it again.

I would also enjoy this. Can we do one for Exile? We can compare how long we spent grinding! Lol

I will once again suggest Tengai Makyou: Fuun Kabuki Den. I have a complete walkthrough with every item translated and can provide maps of every dungeon.
Legend of Xanadu was probably the worst possible game to do in a group play through, let alone as the first one.

Well as the first one, I agree. But still pretty cool regardless.
I own Kabuki Den! I would be willing to give that a go, especially since you have the walkthrough. I think I had saved that somewhere on my computer right before I bought it and never had time to get to it. That's a good suggestion, I've wanted to play through that.
How long is it?
-
I'd be up for a PCE RPG play through thread. I finished Kabuki Den about 12 years ago, if I remember rightly it took something like 20-25 hours, not insanely big. Smaller than Tengai Makyo 2, I'd say.
-
Hmmm....Kabuki Den....
If I'm ever going to revisit this game, it would be a group play.
-
Im on board for aa PCE RPG group play through for sure. I would like to fo other platform GoTWs, but PCE is thr only system I have a everdrive for, so I would have to sit out of any game I don't have, and I dont have a lote more than I have... hahah
-
How about Shenmue 1/2 for the Dreamcast or/and Lylat Wars for the N64??
-
Kabukiden is as long as most full length 16-bit JRPGs. Having a guide will make it easier to play straight through, but I'd expect it to be around 30 hours your first time through.

Star Fox could be good, but Shenmue is a bit tiresome to ask to be completed in a week. I just got it & I plan on taking my sweet time with it.
-
I vote for anything N64

Well, gang, as much as I appreciate the enthusiasm of the posters so far who want to do something fun with the community, I have to say that it's been over a week, and there hasn't been a lot of response to this. Personally, I think we'll probably be busy enough playing our PCE GOTW.
If someone else wants to organize a non-PCE GOTW, that's totally cool with me. But I think I'll focus on posting the PCE GOTW myself. :)
