I'm a little confused about this I see 'PAL' turbografx consoles on eBay and stuff while they say there was no PAL TG16/PCE so I want to ask the pros! If there is a PAL TG16/PCE are there any exclusive PAL games? Thanks for your help!
-
Also any comestic differences???
-
Yes there is the PAL TurboGrafx that exists but was never actually released or if it was it was only in extremely limited quantities. It appears a load of them were found in a warehouse somewhere as they started to appear on UK eBay a few years back.
Cosmetically they are grey coloured and are branded simply TurboGrafx not TurboGrafx 16.
The pack in game they come with is Blazing Lazers.
There are no PAL TurboGrafx games, the PAL console plays USA TurboGrafx 16 games.

Ok cool good to know but is 84£ for one boxed with blazing lasers a good price?

That sounds like a reasonable price, it's generally around what they have been selling for.

Ok cool, the only thing that I see is different is the blue/red line instead of a U.S. TG16 logos colors, so should I buy it?

Yeah that sounds like a PAL TurboGrafx, if for whatever reason you want a PAL console then the price sounds fair.

Was there a PAL TGCD? I love the weird stuff like an obscure PAL turbografx! :D

No there was no PAL TurboGrafx CD released. Though I think there was a thread on here recently about getting a CD unit to work with the PAL system.
I noticed some PAL TG16s for sale here http://www.robwebb1.plus.com/pce/pce.htm I've never used this store so I can't vouch if they're any good or not.

Yup that's the store I found! :D

I have used rob webb's store a few times no problems. I got mine from there couple years ago for £70. Inflation I guess. I sold mine to pay towards a PCE CD setup but I do miss it a bit. The grey is very nice looking.
-
Swirl, please keep in mind the PAL Turbob plays all games at slower speed.
There's a modifcation needed to let it play at original speed.

A CD unit works with the PAL Turbo. You don't need to do anything to make it functional.
If you ask me at what speed those games play, though, then that's a whole other story.

I will but my TV is a pal 50hrz so that isn't a problem and I'm used to 50hrz games (the Core II was far to fast for me I almost got sick after playing 4 hours, wow it never overheats? )
-
does it support AV out cuz in the pics it shows an AV cable?

Well you're getting AV out via the docking station, so yeah.

Ok good so I don't need an AV booster, also GREAT news I struck a deal with someone and I gonna buy the TG PAL :D

Most PAL TVs since the early 90s support 60 Hz refresh rate as well. There's no need to stick with 50 Hz. It is not only the gameplay speed that is way slower, but in case of the Turbob also the music is affected, since none of the games were reprogrammed for 50 Hz - there weren't any true PAL/50Hz games for the TurboGrafx.
If the games are too fast in original speed, then maybe your reactions are too slow?
Just kidding, please excuse me. A lot of shooters are too hard for me to beat since I don't have the patience and time for exhaustive training.

So obviously then you already have a docking station and cd unit.
How are you planning to power everything up?
Myself I wasn't taking any chances by feeding it with a US 120V power supply.
So I got me one of these to power the PAL Turbo and CD unit.

There's no PAL TG in the list :(, yes the PAL TG includes the AV cable! So will it be ok? Or will I have to buy an RF to AV converter?

I was commenting more on the PAL Turbo combined with the CD unit.
Yes, there is AV built-in.
A little bit of info/trivia if you like,
The PC Engine AV cable does not fit the PAL Turbo AV port.
PAL AV cable is on the left of the pic.

It's still strictly a collectors item and not worth playing games on. You'd be better off with emulation.

Heh, I had a couple other forum members over last weekend and they specifically wanted to play games on it to see how the slowdown effected the system and if it made some really difficult shooters easier.
But yeah, for the most part it's a collectors item. Most of my Turbo hardware is loose, so I like having the original box and packaging with the PAL unit even though the system is admittedly not particularly useful.

The website homepage has had updates in June 2015 so I assume he's still about.
There's a contact email address on the site, maybe email first before placing an order

A PAL Turbob is only worth $130 to a collectard. Anyone looking for something to play games on is better off with a plain 'ol CoreGrafx (I or II) or better yet a Duo.

Yeah but the shipping kills me so I got this because shipping won't destroy my budget, duo are like 500$ :/ , plus I can use the flash cards instead of buying games! Also I have a 00's 50/60 hrz TV that changes between what the game is running on :), altho it's mainly because it exotic (and will piss my friend when I say that I have TG16 that's PAL :D)

Only if you knew how much these consoles are sold for in Brazil... probably enough to get everyone here a heart attack lol.
I was considering some games there and not a console, but I just noticed that the cheaper ones were all loosies. Lame.
-
One of the countries where it was released was Spain. Magazines reviewed games, though strangely, in its original japanese versions, and sometimes, they mentioned games like Final Match Tennis and Operation Wolf needed adapter (were they released as such?).
Anyways, I bought one cheap a few years ago and is the one I use to play. What intrigues me is that the system didn't have RF antenna, and not much TVs had AV back in the early 90's.

The accessory box came with an RF switch.

Oh, didn't remember that. I took out the AV switch and never looked back.
-
I've always liked the look of a PAL TurboGrafx. I almost would not mind picking one up that looked nice but was no longer working and just transferring the shell over to a NTSC system so I could play games on it without any slow down or hassle.

You'd wind up with a big hole in the side and it wouldn't match the CD-ROM.
