My SuperGrafx (with CD attachment) is very lonely these days. Anyone have a 1941 Counter Strike CIB for trade by any chance?

I have a spare 1941, but I can't say it's worth $550 in good conscience. Sorry, no deal.
-
$550...
Who said that?
-
Why not accept one of those $500 offers you turn down and buy two CIB copies of 1941?
-

Whoa...
Hold the presses. I was never offered that. One time, years ago, I was offered $300 on NA for it. I should have taken it because I am not even sure I can get that now. I did have it on eBay for a while at crazy BIN prices ($400, $500, $600) with a "best offer" option. I never received an offer through eBay. To tell you the truth I never thought I would get over $350. It was fun chatting with everyone on this forum about it. Every time I would raise the price people here would go nuts. I kept raising it to hear the hate posts lol. Hey, I always liked the heel in wrestling. It was free to post and raise the BIN price so I was just having fun with it.
-
You must REALLY like 1941.
-
IDK....
I have a hard on for my SuperGrafx/Super CD Rom 2 set up. It's so dope. Only SuperGrafx game I have is Ghouls and Ghosts so I want another one. Not really into sealed games that just sit there. Give me a game I can play.
-
I have a loose copy of Battle Ace spare ... would that work for you?

A friend is asking to buy my Dragon Slayer. I always kept my stuff in good condition. I'm the first owner and all manuals and posters are basically untouched. At worst the condition for everything is 8/10 but I'd say it is 9/10 just because it's opened and used. How much do you guys think it is worth? I've seen it listed on eBay for $550 in the past. Thanks for your help!

I would say a 9/10 complete with everything is worth $200. Now 9/10 to me means everything is mint and in like new condition; not a blemish to be seen anywhere on the map, instructions, disc, and case. Hope this helps.

Damn, I'm glad I still have my copy of DS from back in the day! I actually remember playing through it when I was a little down in the dumps as a teen. Thanks Falcom! As for 1941, I hope you can find a copy. It seems pretty great, I played a little bit of it. I forget where I read it (probably here for all I know) but aren't there some exclusive levels at the end of the SGX port?

I have always loved DS. The intro is great! I love the music and even the cheesy US voice acting. The battle system ins't bad but not the greatest either. It's just a game that I personally found some charm in. I would always go to the pirate hideout and play othello...for hours. To bad this guy has been part of the problem jacking up the price on this common game. This game should be $50

Brand new $50 or opened? I can see maybe opened but not new. C'mon really.
Hey Geise let me ask you a question. Dollar value aside do you think it's a fair trade for a CIB 1941 in good shape?

Please explain the formula which determines the value of a sealed game compared to a CIB game.
-

Hey Geise let me ask you a question. Dollar value aside do you think it's a fair trade for a CIB 1941 in good shape?
No.
DS is a common game. 1941 for the SGX has fewer copies and is a more sought after title. Hell you could almost get the cps1 pcb for less.
-
Please explain the formula which determines the value of a sealed game compared to a CIB game.
I think you are simply forgetting about the "collectard Variable." So the formula is something like this:
(((g + c) * 2cv) + fe) * gr = Cost of sealed game.
Variables:
g = Cost of reasonable condition game to reasonable person.
c = Added cost for above reasonable condition with everything that originally came with the game.
cv = Collectard Variable, or the supposed value of a game by someone who has to have em all and they all have to be collectible.
fe = Flippers expenses
gr = current rate of gauge
-
I like how the Collectard Variable is always doubled.
:)
-
^I was hoping people would notice that.
-
gr* = current rate of gouge
*greed
-
HAHA. That was unintentional but it works.

That poor Dragon Slayer disc...suffocating inside that cellophane, yearning for human touch and to be played like any good Falcom game. Please, someone trade a 1941 and set this child free.

There isn't an exact formula but if you're gonna tell me new and sealed games don't go for more than opened CIB games than I would say your crazy. Just do a simple eBay sold search on almost any game out there to get the evidence. I have seen CIB Dragon Slayers go for $200 in the past but recently they seem to be going between $75 - $150 (has to have the map). So to me a NIB copy should be around $200-$300.
-
If anybody thinks "sealed" carries a premium, they are as pathetic as the people paying a premium for "sealed". Actually, asking a premium for sealed is probably worse, because they are just praying on the moronic tendacies of sealed collectards. Its sad. To me, sealed is worth less because you cant do anything with it, and you have to waste time opening. Time is valuable. Aint got time for that. f*ck that noise.

This is your opinion and I am fine with it however the data is out there that says in the open market NIB games sell for higher prices than CIB games. I actually agree with you to some extent that I would rather have a CIB game I can play than a new game that just sits there and collects dust. That's exactly why I want to trade for a game I will play (1941). With that said I'm not just gonna give the DS away either.
-
Now, on the one hand, I don't buy games from gamestop that have been opened. In my opinion, they are not "new" and since that particular store charges more for new games than for used games I feel like it's at the very least disingenuous. Thus, from a brick and mortar store I'll buy a new game sealed or I won't buy a "new" game. I won't pay more for "like new" compared to its used price regardless of whether or not it has already been played.
That being said, I would never under any circumstances pay for a sealed copy to put on my shelf. I don't buy games that I don't intend to play. When I buy a game, I play it. The reason I don't buy 20 year old sealed games and open them is because of idiots who are under the impression that what they have Isn't just a game and is instead some stupid collectible meant for looking at and thus said idiots try to charge ridiculous premiums.

WTF is 1941 Counter Strike? You'd think if the OP wanted the game so bad he could at least name it correctly....
1941 COUNTER ATTACK.

1941 COUNTER ATTACK.
Maybe he's thinking of a hack of Counter Striker set to World War II, and it's not on the Supergrafx, but rather is parroting the developers' claims that it has "new and enhanced super graphics."
(or Joint Strike...)

Because you helped me out with this I am gonna enter you in the raffle. Good luck.

You just didn't know the name of the game.

lol yes the raffle is real and my baby is not part of it. My baby girl is 4 months old. I have been selling off a lot of stuff on NA and eBay recently. Just don't have the room anymore and can use the money. I live in NYC. Space is limited. When I get to all my PC Engine and Turbo stuff I was thinking of unloading some of it on this forum. Not sure what the rules are about that though.

No way, same here. I totally get the limited space. I love living in NYC, but I do wish I could have a house with a bunch o' stuff. Maybe out in Queens somewhere. One day...
Oh, and unload away.

No way really? You live in the city. I live in Harlem. If you win the raffle maybe I can hand deliver it to you to save on shipping. I was thinking of having my cat or baby pick the winner. Still not sure how to work out the logistics however.

Noob! Othello is played with the old man in his hut; you play 'stab the barrel' at the pirate hideout. :P

What'd I say about that? See ya in two weeks.

There is no market for sealed games only lost investment opportunities
-
OP, you'd probably have better luck selling that game here if you went ahead and got it VGA-graded first.
-
Of all the forums out there, this one has my favorite best trash talk.
Totally down for KLAX though, that's a game I don't have and would love to try it out. I suppose I could take up this parenting thing too if that's what it would take for me to win the game. Thanks for the raffle.

I love klax. Great game for the express.

I will be picking the raffle winner this weekend.
Thanks everyone for all the kind words. I love the PcengineFX.comforum. It's rad.

Ah, that's right. I admit the 194x series is not my area of expertise, I overlooked them as a kid because the theme didn't seem as exciting as something in outer space w/ robots. I can understand the appeal more now, though.
-
There's a cheat to begin the at stage 7, I encourage you to give it a try because if the 6 firsts are average, the 6 others are crazy.
Although it could be better to play it through just for the WTF effect

I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on this but it seems overpriced no?

Nevermind you haven't been reading the thread from the beginning. Anyways check out this! Your name reminded me of this.
A man answers the door to greet a new member of the football party he’s throwing. He looks at “Tim” and sees he’s holding a bag of Tostitos Rolls chips and gets excited. “Tim!” He brings Tim into the party and everyone yells “Tim!” Everyone seems to really enjoy the snacks he brought. “Tim, we need to hang out more. Tim-ato! T-Bone!” Tim replies “Actually my name is Brian.” New Tostitos Rolls Chips, bring the party.
-
Don't tease me bro. I f***ing love Tostitos and salsa.
Ding Ding.
Hello.
Oh yes hi. Are you interested in a sealed Dragon Slayer perhaps?

Did you say Dragon's Lair or Dragon Slayer? I can never tell which one we're talking about...
Also, just pop it online with $1 starting price and no reserve.

I still need Dragon Slayer.. Ugh.
Sent from my iPhone using your mama

I love Dragon Slayer. I played it over and over and over umm, and Cosmic Fantasy 2 hoping, praying we would get more releases over here of them.
It is a great game from a classic RPG perspective.
-
I sold it on NA so I guess this thread should be closed.
Moderator shut it down.
Thanks everyone for their support and I hope the person who won the Klax game in the raffle is enjoying it.

I still need Dragon Slayer.. Ugh.
You're not missing much, it's pretty mediocre. Go with a download, nothing special about having it in plastic. It is one of the few traditional RPGs on the system and it got localized, so if you like the genre and wanna try them all, then yeah, get it. But after you beat it once, just FYI, that's probably the last you'll play it. Maybe you'll find the terrible voice-acting entertaining to boot.

Ive actually played through it a couple times. I found the voice acting cheesy, but that kinda made it funny for me. It was the very first CD game I ever played, so maybe that is why I wouldnt mind having it again.
-
I love Dragon Slayer as a game. It's very versatile and rewards repeat play-throughs. Battles and character customization are perfect. You can choose whether to play with random battles in the overworld or "modern" "refined" JRPG-style dodge-the-mobs battles. Lots of secrets, great polished enemy designs and graphics, killer soundtrack... more enjoyable than most 16-bit RPGs. Infinitely better than Cosmic Fantasy 2.
-
It's classic Falcom. I don't know how anyone wouldn't enjoy playing it.

I'm totally in agreement with Berns. Dragon Slayer is a lot of fun! I remember the first time playing through it thinking how the music and graphics are very similar to Ys games! I enjoyed the soundtrack so much and think EVERYONE should play through it! Great game!
