Nah I'm kidding, the game sucks. Even Browning is better.
But if you are a fan of single plane beat me ups like me then you will find some enjoyment.
It's still interesting though. A rushed game, but definitely playable. Two characters with customizable moves.
This game is kinda similar to the Hokuto no ken game on the Genny.
The 2nd character makes the game even easier, and the first two levels are different.
If nothing else, it's a very easy clear, you will only use a few continues at the most. But if you wanna 1CC it that's definitely a tough challenge.
-
The first time I tried it, I played through it once and then began recording a 1CC play through. Once you get the special moves down, it's too easy if you want to spam them. Doesn't seem balanced enough playing through without them either though.

Your title makes it sound like we're shooting at a French Canadian. :)
-
I have never played this game, but I want to.
I know it will happen one of these days.

Me too, este. Everyone says it's a turd, but the art and atmosphere look right up my alley, and I'm a sucker for turds anyway. *cough* Hatris *cough*
-
It's not a good game. But I still find it quite enjoyable. It's got a certain charm that's hard to explain. It's very unfinished, but it's a far better game then say The TV Show, which is just unplayable due to shit controls.

Yup, we are crazy :)

I'm actually pretty interested in it too, it's got cool looking character sprites and I love any game with an occult setting. I think I remember it was pretty unattainable even when I was in my teens. I'll probably never own it, but I wanna give it a try one day.

When I first saw RENNY Blaster it was my friends copy, I had never heard of it or seen any screen shots or anything. I found it instantly terrible. He agreed.
Now with the help of the Internet it's easy to see a lot of the game at once, and clearly the design work is many levels beyond what the programmers could keep up with. This is not totally unheard of in games (and anime) of this period. Think of the ratio of design to gameplay that exists in games like Valis or Linda3, only three times as bad. This is similar to anime OVAs where there was only enough budget for a 30 min show but enough ideas for a three hour movie; Appleseed, Outlanders, that sort of thing. I feel bad for the designer, doing all that work for a game that nobody likes and only slightly more people were able to find. I'd assume most copies are in the hands of completists who have never played it by now.

When I first saw RENNY Blaster...
I thought that's what it was.

Sorry for the mispelling :P
It was a mistake, just like this game was.

It's a nice looking game in my opinion. And that's were it ends for me. Overall it's not that good of a game.
-
This is one I've never played. Hope to have a chance one day though.

While I would agree that this game is not great, it's actually not that bad. Yes, it's not that difficult, and not too long, but I'm glad that there are a few games available which are not knuckle-grindingly difficult. While its gameplay could have used a bit more time, overall I have to say that it's a decent game which could have been a lot better.

I like Browning.
-
It's an ok game, much better than Browning IMO. At least you can control the damn character. Browning is a disaster. I remember seeing it in Diehard Gamefan ads back in the day thinking it looked cool and wanting to buy it. What a f*cking disappointment.
-
I need to do that write-up I promised like three years ago, "How to Play Browning".
I don't have the time though...in a nut shell, learn to dash everywhere.
-
Except when you can't when you run out of fuel lol

I remember those ads, & I actually bought Browning at the old Die Hard store in the San Fernando Valley BITD. I used to hate that game, but I did come to appreciate it.

I'm glad to see that someone else actually knows how to play that game. Browning should be seen more as a mecha simulator than as an action game.

Eh, Valken and Ex-Ranza will scratch that itch far more than Browning. Browning and Genocide are about on par for me in the "games where you control robots on flat featureless levels with repetitive enemies and cheap hits everywhere" genre. It really needed some more weapons, enemies, actual levels...
I'm amazed I managed to beat Browning, because getting through the last level with one health bar, even with the slooow regenerating health, is a bitch.
I really don't understand Telenet. The games they made are just so all over the place in quality. IMO, even their best often fall into the "good, but..." category.
EDIT: Now I feel bad that all this BROWNING is taking away from the effusive Remy Blaster appreciation going on in this thread.
