Title: Protect the games?
Post by: 780racer on December 04, 2015, 10:58:16 AM
Hey guys!

So I have a actual question.

I would like to know IF there is a reason I should get some kind of case or maybe those sleeves for my loose hue cards. I have like probably 10(Plus TurboED) all in a zip lock bag that is inside a sunglasses padded case.

Would it be better to get static shields for each one? I just want them to keep working, haha.

Thanks for the noob question guys. I just wanna be able to continue to OBEY.

Some cases for PCMCIA can fit Hucards and they are designed to protect the card from damage.  If you see a dirt cheap lot of PCMCIA cards in case, get em, take the cards out, and keep the case. Give the naked PCMCIA cards to charity like Goodwill or something.

I've kept mine in loose stacks, sometimes in hard plastic (200 count?) card cases and have never had any problems. Right now most of mine are in various unprotected stacks around my room (even Magical Chase). Still, I recommend SeymorOnion.com 's HuCard sleeves. They're better than the official sleeves, because they're new and clean and consistent and we know for sure that they don't have any kind of harmful acids in them.

I like to put my loose games in a small plastic bin. Cheap, convenient and safe.

Not sure if they are even still around or anything but...

I use some old Tandy 3.5" disk holders. They were able to hold 10 of the 3.5" floppies and they hold 16 HuCards perfectly. These are how I hold all my loose HuCards and last time I counted I have 19 US loose ones.

Once I went over the capacity of my holder I started considering the cases made here on the site but I am sure I will get more loose games at some point and would love to just find more of these old Tandy 3.5" 10 disk holders.

Actually, after a quick search. This might be the right tool for the job for staying on the cheap side of things. http://www.ebay.com/itm/40-3-5-Floppy-Disks-DD-Formatted-for-Commodore-in-plastic-storage-case-/151917663427

Without the disks of course.

This is the item I currently have in use.

I have my GB carts and loose Hueys in a plastic document holder box.  It's damn near perfect height for the GB carts (I have to angle them to get them to fit perfectly, but thats better to rifle through the titles.)  I need to get some of the Hueys some clothes from Seymour Onion, and I am thinking I will eventually buy some repro cases from pcenginefx and labels from Sparky here.

The guy that made those cases (if we're talking about the same guy) left the forums, just FYI
