I inherited these from my grandmother who passed away a couple years ago, but I've never been much of a Mega Man fan & I am in dire need of cash right now.
I've been hesitant to part with them for a long time, but I don't see them doing me any good if I'll never play them.
I've considered picking one or two of the best of the lot, but I have no idea how to tell which sequel is better than the other...
But again, life happens & this time it happened all over my face, so unfortunately I'll have to let these go.
I have no idea what a good price for them is, but the local video game store offered me $80 for just the carts, but also stated that the manual for MM5 was worth $40 alone...
I'm not looking to make bank, just enough to soften the financial blow from this particularly stressful holiday, and the emotional blow of parting with articles I received from a deceased loved one.

I agree, but if you absolutely must get rid of them, I'd be interested in Mega Man 4. It was my favorite from my childhood, (because Skull Man, kids like skulls, what?) I got rid of my nes cart for it when I bought the Anniversary Collection for PS2 a long time ago. It would be nice to pop it in the ol' NES here and there because reasons.

Hopefully these go to good homes. If you end up only selling in pieces or what not I would be really interested in any/all of the manuals.

I appreciate the comments, guys. I have many other games (Battle of Olympus, Mario 3, Metroid) that are games I inherited at the same time that I actually love to play...but for some reason Mega Man just never clicked with me.
I've been hanging onto them with the sincere hope that my opinion would change one day, but I really screwed the pooch with spending on Christmas this year & I don't have many other options for recuperating from it.

I think Mega Man 2, 3, and 4 are considered the best, and 5 and 6 are sought after for being rarer, end of NES games.
I have 2, 3, 4, and as a NES and Mega Man fan it would be cool to have 5 and 6, but I seriously doubt I would be the high offer for the pair, something like $100.

1 - If your Grandma owned these and played them - that's an awesome Grandma!
2 - To be honest, if you're hard up for cash, I would eBay 'em to get max value. Taking care of yourself financially if it's a bad situation should trump "giving them a good home" in this case. Just my 2 cents.

Agreed, your grandma was an awesome lady! It's crazy to see what these are going for now. In fact I saw MM5 at a game store this weekend and they were asking $90. Even the first MM is going through the roof. Last time I checked it was selling for around $80 on eBay, which is insane.
And for the record - 2 was the best ;)

When mine passed away one of the few things I took from her house was the metal ice cream scoop from the 30s which she had used forever. I still have fond memories of her making me a bowl of ice cream and using that scoop, and I value it more than most things in my house (and still use it!).

Glad to see someone else puts sentimental value on inanimate objects like I do. ^-^
The only NES games I remember her actually playing were Mario 3 and Dr. Mario, the latter of which she was the f*cking prodigy at. I've never seen someone kick so much ass at Dr. Mario as that woman. I miss taking turns on the 2-player against her with my cousins.
Unfortunately, her NES & copy of Dr. Mario have yet to be located, and Mario 3 went to my cousin after she died, but like I said before, there were several other games I received that I actually like/have memories attached to. For instance, Little Nemo may have been one of the first video games I ever played. I have vague, dream-like memories of trying to play it at her house in Ohio when I was a wee lad.
I also got the copy of Battle of Olympus that she loaned to my dad several years before he also died. According to my mother, he invented new curse words just for the first Lamia boss.
I really did intend to keep the Mega Man games, and planned on eventually getting the first game & completing the series on the console. I just never had that much interest, I guess...But I'd rather see the games go to peeps on here that will actually play/enjoy them, rather than scalpy Evilbay collectards.
Thankfully, the Rockman games are much cheaper on the Famicom than their US counterparts & I can always use more Famicom games. Better label artwork for those, anyway.

Love this game. I have fond memories of playing it when I was little, but could never beat it. I think I got to about where you get the scepter. I remember watching my big bro beat it, though. I didn't realize just how frustrating the nightmare king was until years later when I went back to beat it, at least I thought it was frustrating. I went back again later and he didn't seem that bad. lol Overall, though the game still feels pretty challenging at parts.

It is pretty challenging, especially for a young'un. It took me years to figure out what game it was...I had a vague recollection of the opening "cutscene" and that was about all I had to go by. In fact, I may not have figured it out until she passed away & I actually played her copy of the game. It was quite the nostalgia trip...memories of fighting my cousins over the Power Wheels & watching my grandmother chase them around with a wooden spoon came flooding over me. Sigh...
Anyway, I'm not sure I made this clear in my last comment, but all the games are sold. I will update the initial post here shortly.

One game I had like that was Ristar on Genesis. For years and years I kept thinking of this fire level in some platformer game with little jelly ball looking enemies and this cool music. I played it at a friend's house and remembered having allll the fun.
Then way later I was at a game stop when they actually had retro shite and I happened upon the cartridge. The label looked familiar, but I didn't know it was the same game that I couldn't remember. I was like "F**k it!" Just bought it because it looked intriguing enough, what with the cute star guy and all. Sure enough it was dat hotness I'd been looking for and when playing it I had all kinds of memories flooding back to me. Mainly they were of sitting at my friend's house playing games and eating all kinds of junk. lol
Good times. Yay!

Hah! I don't know how I've avoided Ristar so far but it's one of the big-name Genesis titles I've yet to play. Cool story though, brah. ^-^ I had a similar experience with Einhander, also. I played it on a demo disc when I was about 7ish & never could figure out the name until I got into shewties a few years ago.
And that picture...lol. Did you make that?

Ristar is definitely worth checking out. Always wanted to try Einhander, seen videos here and there, it looks neat.
That picture was given to me by Santa for Xmas, he's a good man, that Santa, tell you what.

Some of my most happy and vivid memories as a kid was sleepovers with my friend Chip.
He had a finished basement that was his playroom. We would stay up all night playing games. We would alternate from the nes and genesis to playing kings quest and the goldbox ad&d games on Pc. We also played a ton of hero's quest down there.
His mom was the best. One weekend a month she would take us to Roanoke to hit up B & D Comics and Toys R Us. If we didn't go to Roanoke, she would take us to blockbuster to rent movies and games. When we got home she would order pizza hut, have us a huge fruit tray ready, and the fridge was always packed with Dr. Pepper.
Good times... I really love that woman 😊

Sleepovers when I was little were the best. Hell, sleepovers even in my teens were the best, seems like they always involved watching fun movies, eating garbage and of course, playing video games.
