Title: It's HERE!

Thanks to forum member neokellyzero, I am now an official PC-Engine owner!  I've been playing Rondo all afternoon.  So much better then emulation!  The RX pad feels nice in the hand, now I just have to wait for the extension cord I ordered.  :P

Congrats on the awesome acquisition!  But please tell me you don't play the games in stretched mode.  I'll take the black bars on the sides any day to see things in their proper shape.

I've gotten used to the "strech".  That Samsung set sucks.  I wouldn't mind if the bars were black, but they are gray and really distracting.  And everytime I turn off the TV, it forgets that I set it to 4:3 mode and then I have to dig ito the menus to change it back.  It's such a pain.  I only got the set for my bedroom because it was an open box model at Sears and was almost half off.  I couldn't pass that deal up.

Congratulations and I totally dig the way you have your consoles set up. I have a bunch of consoles set up like that too, but mine looks messier. I would defintely take the normal screen size mode than wide screen for PCE, but those grey bars you mentioned do sound aggravating.

TEKWRX, The gray bars help prevent or lessen the burn-in effect that black bars cause. My Hitachi had these on top and bottom for wide screen mode, but I turn them to black in the service menu (not the normal OSD). I can't stand grey bars.

BTW, congrats on the new system :D

I'm not worried about burn in, that's rare on a CRT tube.  Heck, my 53" Panasonic rear projection has the bars in black during SD programs and it's been running for a few years with no signs of burn-in.

Anyway, I'm off to google to see if I can find out how to access the service menu on my Samsung

I'm glad you're happy with it-  It brought me years of enjoyment.  Take good care of it- or I'll hunt you down and make you pay- :D

Very nice. Just looking at that picture makes me want to play some PC Engine. But I won't, I'm too lazy to hook it up.

So true for me also when it comes to consoles I don't have hooked up, like my 3DO.

I'd be paranoid about setting all my consoles on top of all those huge-ass speaker magnets. But I'm paranoid like that.

Congrats. Is the 6-button RX controller as crappy as I've heard?

I don't know why there a lot of people dissing the RX pad, but I personally think it's a great pad, a lot better than the Avenue Pad 6 if you ask me.

I agree with you for the most part, Vanquish. I think the Avenue 6 looks pretty rad and has nice buttons along with a ok d-pad, but the controller has no comfort to it and the d-pad could've been better. Also my Avenue 6 has a annoying problem with it's cord end.

On the topic of 6 button controllers, my favorite one for the PCE is the Hori Fighting Commander PC.  It's like a SFC/SNES controller but with 6 buttons on the front.  I prefer it to both the Avenue 6 and Arcade 6 (aka Duo-RX pad) pads, but they're both decent as well.
