The no sound part is not a big deal the one that bothers me is no video in cd mode what should I check caps are all installed correctly this problem is a first for me I'm wording where does the duo store the 3.0 card system rim on the board

b4 recap it was totally dead no display at all or sound caps leaked acid bad but did not eat traces I washed the pcb down in iso alcohol

Just check the output voltage on the 7805 regulator facing away from the card slot. I just had one bad which was giving me card operation but no CD operation. This regulator was also running really, really hot.

replaced the 7805 was over the limit swapped it out for a new one cd system displays and works another question the 7805 I got is not isolated like the one on the duo came with do I need to put a isolator between the 7805 and the heat sink

no isolation needed
the heatsink on the duo is grounded and the 7805 tab is tied to ground internally
