Welcome to the site, Southern California representing! :P

Good luck in your search, I have been considering trying to buy one too. Sometimes I want to obey but don't want to leave the room/not hang out with the family - practice a shooter or grind a RPG while the lady watches her shows, before I crash out, etc.

My PSP has served its purpose well with the types of games I've traditionally attempted - RPGS and such. The PSP is the only way I've played through Neutopia and it was great.

However I've recently been trying to up my shooter abilities, and have practicing Blazing Lazers so I can finally clear it (STFU I suck and know it). Playing it on the PSP sucks because of the ghosting and fps inconsistencies, and generally emulation feels off to me.

I've been wondering if the quality of the screen on the TE would be better (LCD Modded, or original, or both) than the PSP. The PSP has so much blurring and ghosting it makes playing shooters kinda hard, and I was hoping the TE/GT might be the best option, but after talking with blueraven and tucci I wonder if it is?

Regardless, good luck with your search and enjoy it once you get it - maybe you can post some insight after!

Will do, thank you!

I have been enjoying some of my old favorites on an Open Pandora (which i really dig for traveling and multi platform emulation) but 14 year old me wants the real deal, once again.

:)

Welcome to the forum and good luck on getting a TE.

I got a TE last year and could not get into it because the screen was so meh and I could not read anything.  Just before Christmas I got the TE LCD modded with the 3.5" screen and it's the best money I have spent.

The picture is composite so it's not RGB clear but it's so much bigger and very playable now.  I never been a huge portable gamer but it's been fun playing a lil Neutopia on the couch and then taking the password onto the console to continue.

Only thing that sucks now is my rechargeable batteries never last long enough.  I need to look into getting an internal battery.

Thanks ginoscope.

The LCD mod looks great, but i have to say i don't know if i'd go for it when i can already run the games on a better screen on the Open Pandora...I'd probably keep the TE original out of nostalgia, but who knows...I have to say the videos i have seen make it look A LOT better than the original screen, no doubt.

Was is something you did yourself, or is there someone who sells them modded?

Thanks!

McWill is supposed to be coming out with a replacement screen this year.  I'm sure some of you have seen his Game Gear and Lynx screens.  Will be more expensive than the current LCD screens used to mod the TurboExpress, but the picture quality will be far better.

Oh wow if I had known that I may have waited on the mod.

I did not do the mod one of our members Keith courage did the mod for me.

He has never mentioned if it would be the same size as original or a bigger one.  Personally I like the bigger LCD but that requires cutting out the bezel and trimming a custom lens to make it look good since original lens and bezel is too small to allow 3.5" LCD to show through.  And when you're 40-something, 2" LCD seems small to aging eyes!

Me and Mcwill chatted a few times.  He said he's going to keep it at stock size.  His lcd's are good but cost is going to keep a few people away.  I have modded many gamegear and lynx using his lcd's

So danm sexy. I'd love to see some comparisons of the LCD modded TE vs PSP in terms of ghosting and blur

As much as I love Mcwill screens I don't think I am going to ever go back to stock TE.  I just love how big the 3.5" screen looks but I could be proven wrong.

Turbokon are you ever going to offer the internal battery mod as a service?  I know you been busy working on the new obey chip.

I'm perfectly happy with a stock LCD so I plan to get a Mcwill kit for mine when the time comes.  =P

I'm afraid not for now. I've been too busy with other projects at the moment.
