My guess is wishful thinking, as I'd expect a console first before going after a niche handheld market.
I'd expect it to be like that Retro Freak thing anyway, in which case I'd not have much interest, though it does look pretty cool.

Kinda dumb for it to have a 16:9 screen. I mean, I get that it has the TV tuner built in, but shouldn't it be for playing Turbo games first, and for watching TV second?

Yes, but why the f*ck would you put a 16:9 screen on a device that is named after a console that plays nothing but 4:3 games?
You might think, "because of the HDTV tuner", but I'm pretty sure it's just because there are a lot of idiots out there.

but its so ergonomic, it has to be real! also including a tuner makes no sense at all for a gadget in 2016, WIFI, 4G antennas, sure, but tv tuner? ha.

Aparently you don't understand TV. Over the air HDTV looks amazing, costs nothing, and saves shitloads of battery compared to something like LTE. Given that I have six things that can play Netflix, this would actually be a cool feature, amazing for sports fans.

You wouldn't need anything like an XRGB because there wouldn't be any analog to digital conversion.

As dumb as it would look, considering it's the standard nowadays, my guess is a 16 x 9 screen is much easier and cheaper to source. I'd also expect this to just be a portable emulator box, so outputting to 1080p is no big deal.

Its going to be an emulator regardless of who makes it. Nobody is going to start making HuC6280s just for this thing.
As for the aspect ratio; while I'm sure it's easier to source a wide screen, if you are a real company you'll find that you can actually get screens made for you specifically. This is how every decent piece of gear gets made, the iPhone, the 3DS, the Vita, etc. These companies aren't dumpster diving for EOLed mobile phone displays.
I recently bought a TASCAM DPS24SD. It has a pretty square screen, although the constrast is below the current state of the art by quite a bit. There are thousands of LCDs to chose from these days.

If it's legit and cheap enough I would be interested. I am not a huge handheld lover to begin with but, I would dump my DS Lite for something like this when I travel. If it has TV out and a controller port it would be really cool.
If this is real, all of you folks hoarding TE's as your retirement fund should be scared.

This is my thinking. The proximity to April 1 could be intentional, too. If it's ridiculed, it's "Ha ha! April Fools'!" But if it gets people excited, they can then move forward with actual plans. ThinkGeek (http://www.thinkgeek.com/april-fools-turned-real/) has done this a few times with a few things.

All you need to know is that there is very little market for Turbo/PCE clones. If something this over the top hasn't already long ago been done for SNES, then there's no way it's happening for Turbo/PCE.

If he actually sticks to the TG-16 title and delivers a full album which contains some sort of gaming/Turbo references in the artwork and/or lyrics/samples... then it might affect the Turbo market in a noticeable way. But it'll be a while after something like that before we see any kind of dedicated clone at all, let alone something as advanced as this mockup.

Part of me wants this to be real so bad. The other part says: just buy a TE.
If it is real, it's a fantastic way for more people to get into the turbo/PCE, without driving up prices on eBay hardware.
All that said, I don't think it's real. Not enough people want straight up turbo gear to make a factory run type investment. Just the prototyping would cost more than they could reap.

No I do, but thanks for being patronizing. Of course with a housing that large you could fit an absolutely huge battery in it, an active WIFI radio doesn't actually burn much power anyway, and you can actually use the internet for more than just Netflix. But sure, a tuner would be better. :roll:

I'm not a huge fan of Hyperkin. I agree I think 16x9 screen is a huge mistake. I love my Turbo Express and I think the next thing will be for me to get it modified with a battery and possible screen.
I'm not a fan of people using real carts on android emulators. It is just helping drive up the price on carts.

I already own a TE and I would much rather just mod the screen like turbokon does instead of have this. I love the look of the TE.
