Title: What you are Watching on Netflix.
Post by: Medic_wheat on April 11, 2016, 02:34:56 AM
Title says it all.

Post what you are currently watching on Netflix.

Feel free to tala out the show, your thoughts, and personal recommendations.

You can even recommend upcoming shows/movies that are set to show on Netflix or Netflix original programming.

So I've set up some static route parameters on my router and in conjunction with a DNS service I'm able to view the US Netflix catalogue.

Big Kevin Spacey fan here. I've been binging a bit on House of Cards.

The show is based on the acclaimed BBC mini-series of the same name from 1990, but while the original show focused on the inner workings of British politics, the remake is entirely US based and concentrates on the rise of power-hungry congressman Francis Underwood who is played by Kevin Spacey.

Top to bottom all first-rate acting performances.

Watch red dwarf again. Except series 7. That is garbage. I've watched all the others over at least 30 times, probably more. O and read the books and listen to the audiobooks.

Cheers. 4 seasons down, 7 to go. Thought I'd give it a shot just to hear the theme song, but I got hooked

I have been watching "Brickle Berry"

I have loathed it since the first five minutes of the first episode of season one.

And yet I am on the last season (3).

I still find the show very bad. The envelope is pushed just to push the buttons of the viewers. I enjoy subversive movies and shows, but there is being sly about the joke and then there is just beating people over the head with edgy humor for the sake of being edgy.

I honestly feel I have almost finished watching the show based on the fact that it's there and it cost be nothing to watch it.

Did I mention I use my parents Netfliz account?  Lol.

And so far the first episode has me hooked.

Looked on Amzon to see if ounces buy it. Didn't see the English dubbed release

Luther has been pretty damn amazing. On season 3 now.

In season 1 it was one of the best TV shows that I've ever, ever, ever seen.

Acting, filming, music, story ... it all just worked.

Even though I desperately wanted to see that happened to the characters, seasons 2 and 3 were just "good" (very, very little TV rises to the level of "good" in my book).

************

Suffering through Jessica Jones right now because I'm running out of stuff to watch.

I get the whole manipulative-male/hurt-female thing ... but it's dragged-out to death with a bunch of humorless characters that I don't care about.

I need to find something better to watch.

OTOH ... Green Arrow and DareDevil actually managed to really surprise me by being very good.

I also tore through all the superhero shows on Netflix (with Daredevil season 2 being most recent) and am too feeling the void.  I don't watch live TV much so I am eagerly awaiting season 2 of The Flash whenever that shows up there.  I kinda liked Jessica Jones, and I think it has some potential to get better.  Looking forward to Luke Cage's new show too.

Is arrow any good? I'm enjoying watching Flash right now.

If you're actually enjoying Flash, then you'll probably like Arrow.

In my mind they're totally different shows, with Arrow being head-and-shoulders-and-a-long-ladder-too above Flash.

I guess that it totally depends upon how you like your comicbook characters, and which ones you were more drawn to as a kid.

I always preferred the dark-and-brooding regular-guys-in-costumes to the got-a-miraculous-superpower-guys. Spiderman was the only character that I can think of that successfully melded both styles (until you get to the independent comics in the 1980s, but the only thing folks remember from those days now is TMNT).

Anyway ... that's why I find Arrow's long story of "why the spoiled-rich-kid turned into a vigilante" (as wonderfully preposterous as it was), much more interesting than Flash's "how-can-we-come-up-with-yet-another-crisis-that-needs-this-guy's-kinda-lame-superpower".
