Konami is bringing its Hudson Soft-created long-running board game-style series Momotaro Dentetsu to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PS Vita, Wii U, and 3DS, it’s been revealed.
The most recent entry in the series, Momotaro Dentetsu World, launched for DS in Japan in 2012.
The game—which we currently have no information regarding as to whether it’s a new game or if it’s a port—will be featured on the next Denjin Gacha Niconico live stream on May 5 at 21:00 Japan time.

I've always wanted to give this series a shot on PCE but they're all untranslated, and there are few other japanese language rpgs I'd rather tackle first beforehand. hopefully this will be some new attention to the series that will attract translation projects.

Good news that Konami are doing stuff with the Hudson IPs they own.
I've never understood why they never continued with releasing Bomberman games, surely they are zero risk guaranteed success.
-
'Tis good to hear that they've not forgotten about Hudson altogether, but that's sadly the franchise with the least likelihood of being released outside Japan.

Man, that is weird.
Some observations: it's not an RPG, it's a board game. (DenSETtsu is the RPG series.) If you really wanted to play it you could. Just roll dice and play minigames and shit. You could also play mid period Mario Party which is basically a Mario-fied version of this series made by Hudson themselves.
Also, I doubt it will be a port. That would be like porting Madden 2009 to something. It's a near annual installment sort of game, or rather it was.
Man, this is weird. I guess they are trying to rebuild and board games are cheap to develop...

is the series very popular in japan? seems like this would make alot more sense in that case
also i agree about the bomberman comment. they could just recycle saturn bomberman and rake in some dough

Yes it's hugely popular there. I heard from native Japanese people that it was (arguably) the most popular game series on the PC Engine.

I am glad to here they are going back the well with teh hudsonsoft games. I was crushed that they stopped releaseing PC Engine/TG16 games on PSN once Konami bought Hudson. I wish Konami would really open the floodgates of their backlog on the current systems. I would love to play the CD games on my Vita/PS4.

Yeah, that's why cheap PCE lots from Japan always contain at least one of the games. Same with SFC, PS1, PS2, and probably every platform Hudson developed for.

You'd think that, but usually they seem to just want to recycle N64 Bomberman crap forever which is why the series died.

I always figured tengai makyou was the most popular rpg series on the pce from anectodel evidence, but momotaru makes a lot of sense too.

it seems so obvious.. I wonder what we are missing in their reasoning for this.

Crucify me now, but a mobile bomberman with wireless multiplayer might be fun - if the controls could be solidifed and match making was easy. I could see the lunch crew at work playing games of that for sure.

Momotarou Katsugeki is the board game series. That site has a Japanglish name, but they can't get straight which series they're reporting about? The title is 90% of the news story.

You got that wrong. Katsugeki is the platformer, not a series at all.
Densetsu (legend) is the RPG series, as recent as GBA if not even later.
Dentetsu (a bullet train based pun on legend) is the board game that there are a million of, likely what we're talking about given the insane number of platforms it's coming out on.
