Sup peeps? Just recently getting back into doing retro collecting and had a question about a recent acquisition.
So I make this deal off a person for an old PC Engine (hookups, controller and supposedly works but "looks rough") Duo R (no accessories and supposedly a dead cd-rom) for $50 (Um, yea?)
What i didnt know was just how "rough" this PCE was.... Any thoughts for making it look halfway decent? Or should i maybe find a dead but decent looking PCE and swap shells? Im not normally one to try to paint a console, but i might make an exception in this case...
Im just curious what kind of abuse this lil guy had :(

hard to tell if some of that is paint but it looks like someone tried to scrape the dirt off of it with a knife or screwdriver. they possibly also took a heat gun to it. probably not going to be able to do much to clean that one up.

Yea...Taking a close look, my best assumption is that the system started to classically yellow, the owner had no clue about cleaning it (or even keeping it clean for that matter) and then tried to scrape the yellowing off.
Think ill try my best to get it as clean as i can...maybe go through a few grits of sanding films and try some vinyl dye paint or the like...

85% new?
I'd sand, fill, and repaint...... or hope one of the repair guys has a shell from a junked unit I could buy.
-
Bleach it white and then hand sand it.

Buy the Bonk Multi-Tap.

It looks like paint, and then shitloads and stress on top of that.
Your best hope is to strip it with an industrial degreaser. Soak it in the blue shit for like a week. There won't be a shred of paint left. Then you can see what state it's in and move from there. It might just be yellow at that point.

They kill us for their sport."
Rest in peace, PC-Engine.

Looks like a Xenomorph salivated on that poor thing.

"Yeah!
The minute I saw you looking rough,
I knew you were not an ordinary console.
I know this world is hard for you,
and fools try to put you down.
But you just keep on playing those cool games,
because you will always
be the white PC Engine,
looking rough,
sold for only $50."

Did you get that off a guy called Bernie? Did he have a hair dryer in hand?
