Found it: http://gamesdbase.com/game/msx-laserdisc/strike-mission.aspx
Looks like it's a laserdisc game for MSX. Not sure where you'd buy it, but I suspect something like this is pretty rare. Considering when it came out, owning the necessary hardware was probably phenomenally expensive.

This is nuts. I never knew the original MSX had a LASERDISC unit thing. Seeing the basic screen overlaid with footage of jet fighters was pretty much mindblowing, but I imagine it was way more in 1984!
This game seems interesting in concept but not so much fun IMO. It was hilarious when the enemy jet fighter showed up... a tiny monochrome sprite with no regards to the actual footage's perspective, which when destroyed makes the game cut out to footage of a jet fighter firing and destroying another one lol. Imagine if the PC Engine had something like that too... oh wait

A few years ago I saw a complete setup with all games for $2k BIN and I think a best offer for a bit less was taken. Other than that, these systems hardly pop up and the games are outrageous. I would love to add this to my LD game collection, but have been looking for years with no luck.

Ditto what Punch said.
I had no idea MSX was ever wed with a LaserDisc.
Ever.

If you want to get even more obscure, MSX and Sharp X1 also had such games on VHD. Including popular games like TimeGal, Road Blaster, and Thunder Storm (Cobra Command).

I remember seeing some of the VHD games listed a couple time, prices on those are nuts. I'd personally be hesitant to ever get into something like that since it's basically like an improved CED I think. Too much chance for wear and tear or mishandling. Not to mention those prices, ughhh.

VHD is a lot better than CED, but I agree, not worth the effort.
