Title: SEGA - 50 Years
Post by: Otaking on July 13, 2016, 05:48:37 AM
Just seen this was posted on another forum

Quote
Though Sega dates back to 1940, this year marks 50 years since it released Periscope which was its first arcade machine. Following that followed decades of Sega games of which many are fondly remembered by those who played them.

Sonic the Hedgehog
Outrun
Virtua Fighter
Panzer Dragoon
Golden Axe
Shinobi
Daytona
Crazy Taxi
Scud Racer
Sega Race TV
House of the Dead
Phantasy Star
Billy Hatcher
NiGHTS
Burning Rangers
After Burner
Ecco the Dolphin
Fighting Vipers
Jet Set Radio
Metropolis Street Racer
Seaman
Shenmue
Shining
Streets of Rage

All just some of the many franchises that fans have loved and that Sega mostly has lying dormant in their vaults. Whilst they still publish the occassional Yakuza, Sonic or Hatsune Miku game the company tends these days to avoid most its series and doesn't try to compile them into collections as much leaving many to history now.

What are your favourite Sega memories and which games/series do you think Sega should revisit?

They really need to do a HD remake of Burning Rangers!

The Sega I love is long dead. There's no point in wishing for disappointing entries into the series I care about. I was disappointed enough bitd when proper sequels to Wonderboy, Phantasy Star, Alex in Miracle World, etc never showed up. Even a well made HD sequel isn't going to feel like a real continuation. At least we have the games that exist.

Moonwalker Arcade
*and*
Moonwalker (Genesis)

...have really lost their luster for me now that my worst fears about Jackson have been confirmed recently.

I guess I shouldn't hold my breath for a Moonwalker reboot/refresh/remix/sequel any time soon.

50 years?!?  Wowza.  Congrats to FEKA, even if they've gone a bit lame in their dotage.

Metropolis Street Racer?
What a great game. Pretty realistic as I found it hard to gain kudos, just like in real life.

Sadly sega of today isn't the same.Much as i like to them to revisit shining force, streets of rage or even golden axe it will never happen.Sega is to busy whoring out sonic to care about there other ips.Though, least they have yakuza and the valkyria chronicles.

What kind of self-respecting Sega fan makes a list without Hang-On?

...or Altered Beast.
