I saw this on reddit and thought it would be fun.
For me personally, the 4th gen of video game consoles were the most interesting.
Graphics became more detailed and colorful compared to the 8-bit era. Even retro style games on mobile apps, dorklybits, etc that claim to be 8-bit are really imitating this 4th gen era of graphics. Music/Sound were beginning to sound more like actual music (and especially so with the CDs. The gap between arcade and home was closing. Games, especially RPGS, began developing more complex story lines with characters we could really feel.
If you could choose only two of the consoles of the 4th gen, what would it be for you?

Over the Memorex VIS?

can't do it.
My favourite consoles of all time are the SFC, PCE and Neo Geo AES.
Other than those three that I absolutely love the only other home console I actually ever liked is the Sega Saturn. All other home consoles I'm just "meh" about.
(I appreciate the Wii and Wii-U for being incredible family consoles, but I'd never have bought one if I didn't have kids)
If I was absolutely forced to pick only two I guess it would be SFC and PCE, but that pains me to say as I adore the Neo so much.

I had to vote Neo and a PCE. It's hard to cut out the SFC but in a desert island situation there's is, for me, much more fun in the limited Neo library. PCE is mandatory, of course.

Snes and pce
I wouldn't miss much on the Genesis apart from the shinobi series, bloodlines and mega turrican.

SNES and Neo Geo.. DWI

Laseractive. Cause it can play tg-16/genesis games on it! :P

Clever loophole!
For me, it depends on whether I have Brooke Shields with me in this desert island.
If with her, then I'll take the PCE and Neo Geo (for 2 player action). I'd take the PCE because I will be spending all my time with her, so quick shooters will be my main diet in games.
Otherwise, I'll take the SNES and the Genesis.
This is truly a difficult question to answer, as all 4 systems are awesome, but Brooke Shields is better.

Turbo (of course) and SNES.
-
All of them.

I voted PCE and Genny. I love the Neo Geo, but I feel like most of the Neo games I'd really want to play, I can play on other newer systems.
I like Esteban's answer the best though. :D

Can't i have it all,damn it man :P

OBEY or GTFO.
I voted twice for Turbo. It's a trick question, sanjo is trying to fish out the unfaithful feka lovers and snerds.
-
PCE & SNES. There's just enough of an overlap between them to only make me miss my Genny a little, not a lot.

Preach on, brother!
My vote was for Turbob (surprise!.... said nobody). The only other 4th gen system I own is a FEKA pac for the LA, and that's just because there's so few LA games it's silly to not have both pacs.
-
Honestly, I already have.
the only SNES games I still own are clock tower and the mario all-stars & world cart.
I don't really miss any of the games I sold off last year, and if I did, I sure as hell wouldn't be paying what the snerds want for them.
PCE
Bonk, Ys1/2/3, gate of thunder, rayxanber, VALIS.... come on
Genesis
Rocket Knight Adventures, Gunstar Heroes, Sonic 1/2/3/knuckles, road rash, shinobi...
as for the Neo, it's really a great system, but I find myself playing about 6 games, and that's kind of it.
great games though they may be, I just don't see them lasting me forever.

Assuming you could only choose one, that means the world as we know it has ended. Mass anarchy in the streets and NO POWER GRID.
So I'd go with solar powered source and my TE.

I went with OBEY and NEO, so I could be "THAT" guy that everyone knew...

Turbo and Genesis.

PCE/TG16 CD and Genesis/SegaCD/32X are my choices. The SNES is great but overrated. Although I say that because I wish games where cheaper for it. Tough choice. I would consider Neo-Geo is I could afford it.
