Title: Has this White PCE been modded?
Post by: Ex_Mosquito on November 18, 2016, 05:32:03 AM
Hi guys. I stripped down my white PC Engine to do the jailbar mod and I came across this mod-work. There is no noticeable mod work on the outside of the console. And it still has the RF unit. I'm using it on an IFU that is RGB amped and it doesn't seems to be causing any problems.

Any ideas what it could be?

This bypasses the Pachinko "checksum" and  allows folks to play Pachinko outside of Japan.

Thanks for the quick reply. What does that mean exactly?

The PC Engine actually has a form of software "region" lockout, it's probably more likely an anti-piracy measure. If you add the OBEY chip to a PC Engine, that additional fix is needed for some TG16 cards to work.

I've seen this on so many systems that I assumed it was done this way from the factory. Possibly to fix an issue with some of the PCB traces?
