What's your favorite pre-crash system, and why?
-
Atari 2600, because it was the only one my family had.
-
The Colecovision. When I was 7, my babysitter's son had one of these and we would just kill a few hours on that system.
-
Atari 2600 it was my frist console afther all.
-
Very hard choice. My original pre-crash system was Atari 2600 when I loved then and to this day, but over the past couple of years I got into Intellivision and love that unique console as well. I love the Vectrex to death even though I've only played a few games for it. I can't really decide right now...
-
i would go with the vectrex! was just an amazing and wonderful little thing back then, though i was spending the most of the time with a 2600 in my children hood before getting a C64!!
-
Colecovision, had great arcade ports, looked, played, felt like the arcade versions.

I really, really want to get a Vectrex but not sure when I will get one. Me and my bros keep saying we are going to chip in and buy one for our youngest bro since he loves vector graphic games more than us. :D

Colecovision...
I did own an Atari, but a friend of mine had a Colecovision and I was blown away by it.
-
I had to put Atari VCS / 2600 because that's only system I played a lot prior to the crash. It was only after the crash when I got to play the other consoles.
-
The Channel F was my first system. My dad and I played it until it finally broke. The 2600 and the Colecovision are also favorites.
-
I just got a Magnavox Odyssey2 about a year or two ago and I had a blast with it. Damn that thing had some fun games...
-
Looks like I'm the only Intellivision fan here. :(
It was my first real console and the games I grew up with still hold up today, plus there's lots more great games and the Intellivoice module.
Back then my whole family played it and I aspired to get as good as my parents at games like Lock N Chase. I managed to surpass my Mom, but never quite caught my Dad back then.
AD&D Treasure Of Tarmin alone is reason enough to keep it my favorite. It's a real RPG with animated 3D dungeons like Phantasy Star. I managed to play through all two hundred and so many levels as the manual said there were and found that there were actually an extra 20 or 30. The first time I passed what was supposed to be the last level though, my cousin who was babysitting me that night, tripped over the power cord. I was so furious.
Masters Of The Universe was my favorite toy-line growing up and I still love it to this day. I always wanted to get the MOTU game, but my parents never mail ordered it.
After eBay came on the scene, I was finally able to track down a copy. I couldn't believe that not only did it have an original title screen, but it actually recreated the MOTU logo. And not only did it actually have music, but it perfectly recreated the MOTU cartoon's theme song.
It's supposed to utilize a new technology(technique) called "SuperGraphics". Too bad the SuperGrafx didn't take off, so Mattel could've sued NEC and brought out the 16-bitivision.
The horizontal shooter has near original-Famicom/NES quality graphics and there's even a full screen cinema mid-game where you chase Skeletor into Castle Grayskull.
Sadly, it was one of the last quality licensed games ever made... :P
-
I didn't get an Intellivision until much later, but my cousin's had it, WITH the voice module. I used to play B17 Bomber ALL the time.
-
I've came close to buying the voice module from this local shop a few times and I really should get it; it's $20 with box.
Does anyone know the name of this adventure game for Intellivision (and Atari and Colecovision I think) where you control this guy with a smiley face and go through overhead dungeons collecting treasure. It was a really fun game but I can't remember what it was called, I only played it on a emulator.
-
Haha I remember that game, I can't think of the name either but I used to play it all the time back when I was really young. The smiley face thing was ridiculous, didn't something come and attack you if you spent too long in each room?
-
A couple of consoles forgotten about from that era...the RCA Studio II and the Milton-Bradley Microvision! :D
Keranu, the game you're thinking of might be "Munchkin" but I'm not sure.

Oh man! I loved this game back in the day! I had a Colecovision and thought it was the best system back then. Lots of arcade ports that were actually good! :)
I think Venture was the second game I got on Coleco (Donkey Kong being first since it was the pack in). Man, now I'm starting to remember all those Coleco games I used to play...
Victory
Slither
Miner 2049er
Ladybug
Mouse Trap
Zaxxon (surprisingly good port... at least that's how I remember it. :))
Mr. Do
Turbo
Tarzan (fun game, but short)
Good times...

Zaxxon for the Coleco still is. I still like playing that port.

YES, that's the game! Man what a sweet game that was and to think it was made all the way back in 1982. It practically blowz Zelda out of the water  .
-
It definitely blows Zelda III out of the water.
-
Venture was on 2600,Intelivision,and Coleco. Just looked best on Coleco, not that thast saying much,as it looked like it utilized nothing the Coleco had to offer hardware wise.
