Interesting little thing. What does it do?

Interesting little thing. What does it do?
It checks & tests the diagnostics of a Super Nintendo if any got sent in for repairs. When booted up it plays a 16 bit rendition of the opening theme of Zelda 2 while showing some footage of a Super Mario world lvl. And then later on some random asian lady with short hair comes on the screen. And you need to push buttons on the unit itself to progress the test.
Penguin from Nintendo age made a youtube video about it, it's official name is the "Super Nintendo control deck tester unit"
Here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heDWEn0-7Og

Yeah idk why he would say that. I'm sure he's no Ryan Reynolds

First thought in my head when I saw it was that it looks something like a 32X for a Super Nintendo. That thing seems pretty cool.
-
That tester looks cool. I remember seeing one at an authorized Nintendo repair place when I was a lot younger. I brought my Gameboy in for a screen replacement and they were using a unit similar to that one to run diagostics on a SNES that was brought in for some type of service. They charged like $25 in 1994 to run the tests I remember.
-
Its interesting, because each test cart has a slightly different animation set to test. I'm surprised it needs such a big housing, since it does nearly the same thing as the smaller test carts I have.
-
Maybe the Super Famicom version does something more and has more stuff inside?
-
Not to hijack the thread, but does are there any places that make reproduction manuals? Seeing another thread with reference to a manual that cost 4 figures has me wondering.

Ohhh no way! I always thought these were just owned by Nintendo repair guys. You would send your broken stuff to their outlets and they would diagnose it / send it back. These units do look pretty user friendly, so that would make sense. I didn't think these were out in the open for people to see, thanks for sharing.

That's a good point. Because in addition to this 32X looking thing, there were other test SNES cartridges. Only one i can think of top of my head is the burn in cartridge, which is fairly common to find. and not expensive. The ones you have, are they the 5 or so yellow NES carts or a snes cart test cart?

Working out an epic trade for the super nintendo test unit.
Found a guy who's parting with his TurboGrafx 16 kiosk, one of the big ass tall ones from Toy's R US, fingers crossed! Hoping for a straight trade

Cool, I got one of those but us Canadians had to go to Radio Shack to use that kiosk.
Hope you get it and take Picts and show us :)
PS: if your missing any decals on it i can help, I did some repro decals for another guy I know for his kiosk.

Oh hey! I was wondering where you went. Buddy says it's pretty much in perfect condition. Which is honestly just a bonus, TBH i would pretty much take one in any condition :D
And yeah you're totally right! This particular one would be from Radio Shack.
That would be sweet though if it's missing decals! i'll definitely make a post about it if it goes through. Might have to throw in some NES CIB's like Tecmo Soccer to seal the deal. Letting this slide from my end would always bother me.

aren't you that prick that hates everything Nintendo? What are you doing?
-
I believe the vendors responsible for this equipment were supposed to send it back..
So by me/someone else owning it, we're basicaly telling Nintendo to go f*ck themselves

Nearing the point where I ban a troll.

Updated!
Shocked at how quickly i'm finding these, I thought these would take me at least a year or two (non eBay, non scalpery prices)
