I have had a decent daily commute and have been cut off or almost run into a number of times over the years and was debating picking one of these up.
Does anyone here use or used a dash cam? Suggestions or complaints or just a waste of money?

Depends on a few things. Mainly is do you live in a state that has "At fault" for collisions(PC term)?
If you do, then yeah, its a great idea to cover your own ass.
It also depends how deep you wanna go, cause you could get a rear camera as well.
I think they can be really good, and help your case out if you live in a state that has At-Fault driving collisions.
The state I live in MN does not have At-Fault. SO its rather pointless for me.

I've been debating doing a video podcast called You Can't Drive for years now. Footage would be easy to obtain...just get in a car and tape everything you see people doing, go rip them a new one in post.
However I do sorta wonder why these are huge all the sudden. The best practical use is pig protection, obviously, but how many people actually care about that?
Never mind, that was a stupid question. If recent events have proven anything is that everyone needs pig protection. Do any of them do CANBUS overlays?

I love watching the crazy Russian dash cams.
What was the question?

Russians and cars...wow. I watched this great security footage where a guy got pissed that some dick parked his Cayenne *in* a children's playground so he just poored gas on it and lit it. It runs for like 18 min. One of the best things I've ever seen in my life.
