Title: Reasonable price to pay for a clean Duo R
Post by: MobiusStripTech on January 24, 2017, 12:58:01 PM
I am looking at buying a Duo R from someone and I am wondering what you guys think a decent price is? It's already in the US and is bone stock. It comes with a TG16 controller instead of the PCE controller. The case looks nice and white. Any thoughts and opinions are welcome.

Some of us prefer a DIRTY Duo R over a chaste one.

Well the one I already bought is a bit dirty... I am looking at buying another though, but it's more than I paid for the dirty one.

Wait and buy a new one. Trump met with NEC heads today, and they are bringing Duo production back to the US. Its gonna be bigly!

Yes I realize that, but how he says it, it's almost contracted to sound like bigly. Surely this is not the first time you've seen "bigly" used.

$300 give or take, I would say...

Bigly.

Check with Keith Courage here for what he has before buying a Duo-R elsewhere.

He sold me a cleaned up Duo-R ($255) + region switch ($50) for $305 + shipping a couple years ago.

I got my Duo R and a bunch of games that were at one point submerged in a flood for $300 shipped.  Region modded, S-Video, Re-capped.  I love it, well worth it

I wouldn't pay more than $200 for a minty mismatched Duo R that isn't coming from one of the trusted repair/mod guys.

So are the repair mod guys here selling them for <$200? If so I might purchase a backup

Sorry I misread that. I wonder what KeithCourage and co. are selling them for??

FYI, TG16 pads don't normally fit in a Duo.

I'm saying that $200 is the most I'd pay to some random person and even then, only if it's mint. I'd rather pay a premium for a serviced and upgraded system from someone I trust.

I passed on it. My Duo R was cheaper and boxed with all original components. Thanks for the input everyone, I appreciate all the insight.
