Title: PC Engine DUO CD-R Issue
Post by: Spaayse on April 14, 2017, 09:05:34 AM
I recently bought my first PCE, a black Duo. Everything works fine for both the cards and the CD-R, but occasionally when I am play CD games, specifically Rondo of Blood, the music will stop playing. The sound effects will work fine, and it is only the music that will cut out.

Is this normal? And how would I go about fixing it?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome aboard!

Is it a pressed CD or a CDR?  If it hasn't been re-capped yet, that needs to be done either way.  If it's a real cd, it might need a pot tuning or a new laser; if it's a burned disc, it might need a pot tuning, a new laser, a better rip, or different media.

Also keep in mind that even the slightest bump on the table, causes the audio to stop. That stands for all pce, with internal or external cd unit. The audio will start again when the game switches track (next stage for example), but it can't pick up at the point of interruption (bump).

It can also be a dirty cd disk, try burning a fresh copy at the lowest possible speed.
