I can't be sure, but I think I remember some systems having a little sticker on the back of the manual with the serial number of the console on it. Is this the case? And specifically, is it the case with the shuttle?

I want to know, too.
[hijack]More importantly, I would love it if folks would scan entire manuals for all PCE hardware and send it to me. [/hijack]
Thank you.

since I know next to nothing about scanning... I know that like 20 years ago, there was specific hardware used to scan documents - is this still the preferred way, or is it possible to scan using high resolution photographs?
If you can scan photos I could probably manage to scan a few manuals for you. Seems like a good idea if no-one has done it.

All you need to know about Scanners:

I'm not sure about the Shuttle, but I know that the PC-FX does this. I think the Duo does as well.
Lots of Japanese Sega hardware does though, MegaDrive 1/2, MegaCd 1/2, Super 32X and many Saturn models do. Lot of time there is also a sticker on the box that corresponds with the serial of the unit as well.

Thanks for the reply :)
Damn. I wonder if my obsession will allow me to have a different serial number on my manual.

I can confirm that the PC Engine Shuttle does have a serial number sticker that does match the serial number sticker on the manual. I had to dig mine out of the closet to confirm it. If you need me to take a picture of it, I can do so. This is also the case with the PC Engine LT.

The IFU-30 had a serial number on the manual that matched the unit and box, the one I had was the original that said "IFU-30" on it and not the cd-rom logo. Although I'm guessing that also did as well.
Pretty sure my Duo-R also had matching serial on its manual but I can't remember for sure and don't have the system anymore.
