Title: Kingdom Hearts?
Post by: turboswimbz on July 21, 2017, 09:08:58 AM
So to make a very long story very short, well besides the explanation and this one as well, I came across Kingdom Hearts II for the PS2.  I haven't played any of the kingdom hearts games so, I'd figure I'd ask all of you if you've played the games? like the series?  is this worth moving to the top of my list and firing up?

Thank you in advance.

I've played through the first one twice; once with my ex girlfriend, and again my wife. It's a Disney game with some final fantasy insanity mixed into it. The gameplay is a hack and slash with magic, and two ai controlled party members that you have to micromanage a bit. There is a lot of frustrating platforming, and the story is somewhat incomprehensible, but the art and gameplay is alright overall. If you're a Disney fanatic and have patience for final fantasy nonsensical stories I'd say jump in asap, but the less of those two factors you categorize yourself with the less I would suggest the game.

I remember those. My niece played them constantly until she finally beat them. She said they were "great", and she's not much of a video-gamer.

Of course, she was 11-12 at the time, and in that "disney princess" stage...

I honestly love these games.

or rather, I did.
until SE decided to bog the series down with unnecessary spinoffs rather than actually giving us the 3rd game.

Pretty much my story too.  Though Birth By Sleep (the PSP one) is actually quite good.

They are great.

The first two KH games are frigging awesome.

after that, it was a clusterf*ck, though.

It's pretty hilarious seeing Square characters running around with Disney characters in a competent action RPG manner.

I only played the first Kingdom Hearts and found it a privilege, loved every minute of it, didn't expect to find great Danny Devito voice acting in it! I needed to find one more Dalmatian puppy to be 100% complete, but failed to try again. Some day... I own the 2nd as well, so another one for the old backlog, heh.

Word. And it somehow all works, that's the thing!!! They pulled it off!

I've never played 'em, but I have the PSP one that I hope to get around to eventually.

So many games, so little time.  :-"
