I was rummaging through my old Xbox and Xbox 360 collection over the weekend.
I happened upon all 4 of the PGR games.
What happened to this most excellent series? It just sort of fizzled out after PGR4, which in itself was a good improvement over the launch day showcase that was PGR 3
I know Forza is now the flagship racing franchise on the Xbox plaftform, but it just seems odd that a series known for its quality and attention to detail just sort of fizzled out without warning.
Same thing happened to that awesome NFL FEVER series as well.

don't think they sold very well

It’s a weird midpoint game that’s not as fun for scrubs as Need for Speed and nowhere near a simulation so I guess it got steamrolled.

A: ACTIVISION/BLIZZARD

MSR and the first PGR were perfect for me - not too sim-like and arcadey enough to want to keep playing...

We all have our perfect driving games. Mine was the Touge series and that’s dead too.

I think what initially sold me on the Xbox (and later then Xbox 360) were the PGR games.
They truly did showcase what the hardware was capable of as far as launch titles were concerned...you certainly couldn't achieve the graphics and effects on previous hardware.
I personally thought PGR4 was a great game. Just didn't expect the franchise to sputter out at what was arguably a high point.

Forza killed it. Made it somewhat redundant.

Forza is pretty goddamned great. I’m not an XBox guy but that is a quality series. Turismo is a total joke by comparison.

I haven't thought of this series for a long while. While I enjoyed the first game on old Xbox when I picked it up, it didn't such a grip on me that I played the sequels. For the same sort of feel I think that Initial D is my racer of choice today, but that's neither here nor there.

I miss the PGR series so much. I am afraid that the Forza Horizon series are confirmation that MS only wants to expand the Forza brand , ignoring PGR.
