Title: Rename: The In-Game Font Thread
Post by: Ninja Spirit on November 06, 2006, 02:53:20 PM
It's the seriff font that's been used in numerous Capcom games through the late 80's and mid 90's.

Here are a few sites I use to visit whenever I need a font from a video game. I don't know if the one you are looking for is among them, though.

Ninja Spirit,

How'd you do that? I'd like to learn to rip that font so I actually type my own sentences with it. I'd also like a template of the arcade version of that font. Because VGMuseum hates hotlinkers, I made a collage of screens and updated my first post.

I used utility called Tile Molester. There are other tile viewers out there as well and even some emu allow you to dump the VRAM - which usually has the font tiles. Anyway - you need a font maker utility once you have the tile(font) set extracted, to create a font file to use with a paint program or word processor. The font I pulled was from Son Son II, but SF2 either of the console ports might be a better choice to get the font.

Yeah, I plan on getting it.  I'm also one of the few people on this planet who also happens to like the original Street Fighter.

Heheh I found another good Capcom font, but in True Type Form
(http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a13/Oldschoolage/CAPCOMFONT1.png)

The one seen in 1942, 1943 and Gun.smoke.

Ah f*ck it maybe I should rename this the "In-game font thread".

Yeah, cuz its only the greatest arcade game ever made.

Don't worry Dark Fact, there's more to the end of the game than that message. Not any kind of cinema or anything(keep in mind when it came out). The last level is very cool though and worth playing through the game to see.

Black Tiger's one of those long forgotten type of games where the gameplay itself is the reward and not a bunch of lame cinematics.
