I've always loved Galaga '88/'90 but gave never gotten close to finishing it, and I know some of you have. Maybe spending some quality time with it again will help me break the curse!

Galaga 88/90 is a solid game with a good fresh approach to the tried and true gameplay. I hope to get a few games in myself this month.

Post by: majors on September 16, 2019, 09:44:14 AM: I got a few hours in over the weekend. Managed to reach 1-27 once, took the "easy" route, no warps. I definitely welcome the GoW challenge to actually get some quality time in it, since it's been sitting on my shelf as a Turbochip, then traded it out for a HuCard for over 25 years. Looking forward to getting more games in and maybe getting a credit roll...just need to keep my eyes on the enemy shots near my ship more closely. After that, I may look at a score attack run, there seems to be lot's of extra bonus options to crank up the points.

I'll have to fire up the Turbob for some Galaga action. This is a score from the Galaga 90 competition from the days of yore. But I will do my best to top it. The key is to not go nuts firing at everything. Let the bugs make their formation and be as precise as possible to get bigger scores on enemies. Oh, and taking the warps is key as well.

No warp run, not going for score and just gunning down enemies fast as I can I got 487,690. I've been working on a warp run, but I keep topping out at level 20-21. Those "stone" bugs throw in a monkey wrench.

I've noticed that the multi shots of the dual or triple ship will not shoot threw a gap in enemies. It's like the shots act as one bullet.

After playing Nexzr, I went back to Galaga to feel better. Had a decent run...too an easier path since I was not going for a high score. Ended up with 1,022,190, just shooting fast as I can and skipping most of the later bonus stages.

Wow! I don't think I've ever gotten close to breaking a million points in Galaga '90.

I'll still be doing a new October one though. I didn't expect the turn out honestly. Lol. Anyways I might start a score board for this thread.

Post by: Mathius on October 01, 2019, 08:32:22 PM: This is one of my earliest hueys, and a fine game to throw in for 20 minutes. Namco arcade games always had a "buzzy" quality to their sound which made the Turbo a natural home for them during this time. I'm very fond of this game.
