Post by: Ninja Spirit on January 04, 2007, 11:43:29 AM
Time passes, game collections expand, but good ol' Turbo will never change! Let's go! As you can see, my collection has been relocated to a new room

I totally redid my basement gameroom since the last tie I posted pics, so here's the new ones!

Sorry about the overexposure of the pic.

This is for all of my "old-school" systems.  The "SDTV" systems, as I refuse to play these systems on an HDTV because if I do, they look like crap.

Launch unit Genesis attached to a launch unit Sega CD and a launch unit 32X for the TRUE arcade experience!  :)
The NeoGeo is an earlier unit as well.

To the right of the table is a rack which holds more systems like (top to bottom):
Super Nintendo (launch unit), Nintendo Entertainment System, TurboGrafx-16 CD-ROM,
Sega Saturn (launch unit).  Below that is the Sony PlayStation (launch unit... amazed it works at all)
and the N64 (launch unit) is on the bottom where it belongs.

Some games and the way I store them.  A few more games have been added since this picture.

Joe, your setup kicks ass. And where the f*ck did you get that Afterburner poster? I want it.

I'll post some pics of my setups later. But they are totally lame compared to that one.

Most of the games I see on Joes shelf are the cheap AES titles with a couple of the rare ones like Neo Turf Masters.
Is the Turf Masters a conversion cart?

Also,Joes setup is very tidy wire & system wise and clean,I like it alot. My room is a complete mess compared to his.

Joe, why the hell do you have a chalkboard in your room? It's pretty rad!

I got the After Burner poster from Sega of America back in the day.

The chalkboard is there because that's where I drew the at.

Neo Turf Masters is a conversion that works fine.  Trying to think of why I would care if it were a conversion or not if I can save lots of $$$.

You shouldn't care. I was just wondering because I don't think Ive ever seen a normal english home cart of it. Whatever works works. Conversions are fine in my book, esp if they reuse the chips taken from the AES pcbs and place those on the MVS pcbs. Im even more for it then as no game is killed. Conversions really help price wise.

I was just glad it came in a plastic box and not those early, gimpy Neo Geo boxes.

The War was awesome. Reminds me of the chalkboard animation done in the short film "Dinosaurs", which was Fred Savage's first role.

Conversion carts are nice especially when it is a game that is released Arcade MVS only. I only got one which is Shocktroopers. My Neo Geo collection is balanced between expensive and cheaper titles. The games I had to pay roughly $265-$315 when they were US releases over a 4 year span is; KOF 99, 2000, 2001, 2002, Metal Slug 3 and 4, Matrimelee, Mark of The Wolves, and Rage of the Dragons. I sold all the games that were made by Playmore since I just felt the quality wasn't there compared to the original SNK games. That leaves me Metal Slug 3, KOF 99 and 2000, and then Mark of The Wolves. KOF 2001 is by far the biggest embarassment of the KOF series. The worst backgrounds, music, and character art ever. I gave up on Playmore Neo Geo titles after Matrimeele and Metal Slug 4.

This money helped me buy other games around $200 like Last Blade 2, Art of Fighting 3, Samurai Shodown 4 and other cheaper original SNK made titles. Still had money left over thanks to some games selling higher than I bought them for, but more of them had rapid price drops due to just being non-desirable titles. I am glad I sold a lot of them early, which would actually make me money if I rebought them now. Neo Geo stock market: Sell high, then buy low. US Mark of The Wolves goes for $650 atleast.

I am not really rich or anything, I just bought 2 new games a year. Most Neo Geo titles nowdays you can get for like $20 to $50 easy. It only gets expensive at $80 to $200 range if you buy games that were released from 1995 and up usually. Here is a price list, you would be suprised how much less you can get some of the games listed. It is fairly accurate. http://www.neo-geo.com/guides/aesguide.html

That's a nice lookin' Duo.

I've never had a Duo R or RX but I love the sleek look and color.

Did you bleach your Duo-R or something? It looks much whiter than mine, but the DUO-R logo is also a lot paler. Does it really look like this or is it just the photo?

I didn't bleach it, in reality it's still a bit rugged, but not too bad. The flash itself gave it that pristine look.

I did bleach the controller though

The following pics are a couple months old but nothing much has changed.

TurboGrafx-CD

Gigantic SuperGrafx-CD setup that takes up two shelves

PC-FX setup - nowadays there is a Nintendo 64 hooked up next to the PC-FX where the mess of controllers was in this pic.

Gaming area 2 in "my wife's room" - her old Nintendo consoles
(http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n132/nathall_1/station2.jpg)

Gaming area 3 in our bedroom - The TV pictured here has since been replaced with a JVC 27". There's another TurboGrafx hidden in the cabinet that's hooked up to the TV. The only console hooked up in this room. This is so I can play the Turbo while laying in bed. Yay!
