Title: Ideas for games that seem perfect for the Wiimote that are original or updates
Post by: sunteam_paul on January 19, 2007, 05:12:31 AM
Throw down your ideas here for games that, given the potential of the Wiimote, seem destined to be made if only developers would think of it. Movie tie-ins, remakes of games that cried out for the Wiimote style controls before they existed and not just ports or minor updates with pointer controls seemingly tacked-on.

1. Ghostbusters.
C'mon, the Wiimote is perfect for this kind of thing. Just think how awesome it would be to lay waste to expensive buildings while waving the controller around like a maniac.

2. Virtua Cop Collection
We need more light-gun style games for the Wii, and a VC collection would be great, maybe bundled with a brand new VC game.

3. Star Wars.
Lightsabers. 'Nuff said.

[Edited to make the intention of this thread a bit clearer]

More NeoGeo ports. Also,Atomaswave ports would be nice, along with actual good 3D fighting games that don't involve DBZ and Neurotic:Cast of Crazy, oops,I mean Naruto:Clash of Ninja. Good driving games that don't involve EA anymore.

RPGs that appeal to older teens and adults.

Something new done in the survival horror genre that hasn't been done before. Maybe Saddness will deliver in this area....

A first person shooter done by Raven or Id would be nice.

Capcom collections that actually work near perfect.

Maybe a new Metal Gear Solid made just for Wii.

Less titles in the Ubi  first person shooters line up. Farcry was broken. No excuse for that.

A new Shinobi.

I was kinda aiming at games that would be an ideal match for the Wii remote.

An adventure game in the vein of those old King's Quest and Monkey Island games.

A new Panzer Dragoon or REAL Starfox game (like the SNES/N64 classics, NOT the ultimate shit Gamecube ones).

Basically either one of those and I'd be very tempted to get a Wii.

So basically your saying the Wii remote isn't for simple arcade games like Final Fight or Strider,RPGs, survival horror games, sneaky ninja or steath type games, first person shooters, driving games, and fighting games????
Almost all the above could be enhanced in new ways with the Wii remote allowing for much better play possibilities, esp RPGS as setting up commands would be way faster with the remote.

So what kinda games is it ideal for then, games only you and a select few like? We should look back on this post 2 years from now and compare what you and I said to what actually is out on the market. It would be interesting to say the least...

OH yea, last I checked the title of the thread was "Games that MUST be made for the Wii" not "Games that MUST be made for the Wii remote".

When I read the title I was thinking of/aiming at titles that would keep the system going strong in sales and help it crush the others, not Virtua Cop 1 and 2 on a disc and a basic SW light saber battle to please the Star Wars fans. Last I checked there was already a SW Light Saber game for tv released last year like those other hand held tv games. Go buy it if you wanna pretend your a Jedi for a day. Probably more ideal

Oh man, I don't think I ever thought about a Ghost Busters game for the Wii, that would be awesome!

Good suggestion, I'm hoping for more light-gun style games for the Wii as well, these ones would be great, as would Terminator 2.

Of course :) .

Here are my ideas:

1. ) Rez - The Wii had've to been designed for this game, just play Rez to see what I mean. The control is absolutely perfect for it. Also a Panzer Dragoon game as GUTS mentioned would be cool, but Rez moreso with the targeting thing.

2. ) Any baseball game (a new Baseball Stars would be great) - Not saying that Baseball on Wii Sports wasn't good, because it is a lot of fun and shows off the potential for a Wii baseball game, but a new baseball game completely designed for the Wii would be great. For fielding, I think it would be nice if you use the d-pad on the Wiimote to move and to throw to a base, you hold down the B-trigger and then press the direction according to the base, or on second thought, holding down B and actually throwing the ball in right direction.

3. ) Laser Tag -

4. ) Ys - New or remake.

5. ) Shining Force - A new Shining Force would be great, especially since you could just point-and-click to where your troops go in battle.

NiGHTS - i'm not a fan of this game, but what would be more natural than tilting, twisting, turning and bobbing the wiimote to control a flier on the screen?

Earthbound. i don't know how this game would make use of the wiimote; knowing EB, however, it will be weird. And even if it isn't, i still want it anyway.

Wrecking crew. imagine running around and smashing things with your wiimote...

para para paradise. if you want girls to play with the wii, make a port of this game. you won't be sorry.
Or any Bemani game, for that matter. Samba de Amigo, even.

Red Steel 2: this time with multiplayer swordfighting!

Zoo Keeper.

Maybe. Better suited for the DS though.

I'd like just a good adventure'ish(realing jumping/platforming) gameplay FPS like Halo 2.

Metroid Prime 3 should have a cool quest mode, but I'd really like a fun multiplayer vs mode.

Actually I take back Panzer Dragoon, I wouldn't want to see that awesome series tarnished with horrible Wii graphics since every Panzer game released has been cutting edge in graphics for consoles at the time. If they make a new one it should definitely be on the 360 or PS3.  I still want a new Starfox though.

And I agree with Helgeson, the Wii needs some variety, every game out now is a collection of stupid mini-games or Zelda.  The system needs some real games on there that you can play for more than 5 minutes at a time without getting bored.  They also need to stop making every game so god damned simple like everyone who owns one is a complete retard, make something complicated for god's sake.

There is nothing wrong with simple games. Myself and others avoid a lot of modern games because they aren't simple.

Shining Force is dead and Sega raped its still decaying corpse.  Let us not speak of this again. :-#

Don't mind Mike, he gets like that sometimes. :-" :-k [-(

What I'd like to see is a one-on-one weapons fighting game of some kind. Imagine a Soul Calibur-type of game for the Wiimote.

Games that should be made for the Wii:

-Sports Pad Football - This SMS game REQUIRED the Sports Pad.  That is why it rules you.

-Gyromite - This game used a robot.  Any game with a robot is good.

-Gears of War 2 - Only the Wii has graphics good enough to continue the Gears of War franchise.

-Wonder Boy 6: Monster World 5. - Screw playing a game with a d-pad.  Only a$$holes do that.  Instead you'll lean the Wiimote right to walk right, left to walk left, up to climb up and down to squat/climb down.  Flick it up to jump and in some other random direction to attack.

-Street Fighter 4 - Again, no buttons.  Buttons are for sissies.  All moves and attacks are made by moving the Wiimote.  The Wii is definitely NOT a gimmick and this game will prove it by showing that regular controllers are obsolete.

-Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - You must wave the Wiimote vigorously to advance text boxes.

-Virtua Fighter 6 - The first Wii game to REQUIRE 4 Wiimotes, and that's just for one player!  One Wiimote is strapped to the ends of each arm and each leg.  The player pulls off moves onscreen by pulling them off in real life!

Yeah!

I can't help thinking of a sequel to Sin & Punishment. With the nunchuck to move your character and the remote for aiming, it would make the controls a lot easier to get to grips to for those with challenged coordination  :P Of course this leads on to all sorts of Space Harrier speculation though Space Harrier with an aiming reticle may not seem right.

Agree about Rez as well, very similar style to both S&P and SH.

There's one being made that might be out in Japan, it's called Bleach.

I think the problem is I put up veritiy and you seemed to not like that too much because it didn't fall inline with what you had wanted to see.

Problem with that comment is that any of the game types I metioned could be perfect for the Wii remote if done right, and not everyones ideas are going to fall in line with yours. They could just as easily make a "SW Jedi Light Saber Battle For the Dark Force Rising of the Hand of Trawn" and the programming could end up being done poorly and the game ends up sucking. This could happen to any game made for the Wii,no matter how original a title or how much a clone of another type a game it is.

And the Star Wars game, its been done before:
http://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Light-Saber-Battle/dp/B00061I4CE

Good job at renaming the thread btw but the thing is ANY TYPE of game, any type of genre could be perfectly done for the Wii remote if the games implementation is done well and with some solid programming, along with good visuals and sound that work with that to make you feel its more interactive..

Yea another anime based fighter. Sega handled it. I thought it was released already in Japan. They may release it here if the animes fan base is good.

Ha ha, that's great! When I first read "require 4 wiimotes, I thought "yeah - for one player, hehehe" and that's exactly what it said.  Wouldn't be surprised if it actually happened, this is Nintendo we're talking about after all.

Yea really, strap one to each ankle and for arm,and look as stupid as possible. Considering past efforts with the power pad and stuff, yea I could see them do something like that.

Final Lap Wii (RRPG) -- Racing RPG. A solid, arcade racing game + RPG hybrid. Offering more than simple parts management, I envision a career mode that involves massive exploration, floating mystical racetracks, puzzles, side quests, plot twists, etc. Your character ages (limited career) and can DIE in a fiery roadside accident! No save points, just an obituary in the Wii Journal. However, to avoid frustration, the spirit / ghost / soul of your character can be resurrected and find a new host. Of course, the process of finding a new host is not clearly spelled out in the manual and you must delve into the netherworld of magic to, hopefully, find your passage to blood and flesh.

The Wiimote would be perfect for performing witchcraft rituals.

For the folks who would be more interested in the RPG elements, there would be an "I suck at arcade racing games" mode... but this mode has to be unlocked by performing some ridiculous RPG-heavy tasks. As I envision it, RPG'ers would unlock this special mode at the same point that the arcade racing segments would get significantly more challenging.

Of course, folks could always opt for the more challenging racing.

I think Nintendo should just make an Activator attachment for the Wiimote, it would make this game easier to control!

Plump Pop. A new version with the arcade classic included. Both remote compatible.

Other Arkanoidy Breakout games might be cool enough, but Plump Pop is one of the greatest games ever made and one where the Wii remote might actually be useful.

Well, if the originator gets the VC treatment, it'd be cool to have optional wavy Wii remote support.

Yeah, the vs. mode would get pretty intense!  Or maybe not...  Instead of cool looking martial arts moves you saw in previous VFs, you'd just get the sloppy "fighting" you'd see in amateur night boxing.
